Netanyahu snaps back against growing US criticism after being accused of losing his way on Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is railing against growing criticism from top ally the United States against his leadership amid the war with Hamas. Netanyahu says the call by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for Israel to hold new a election is “wholly inappropriate." He says an election would force Israel to stop fighting and paralyze the country for months. Netanyahu also says an assault on the southern city of Rafah could be weeks away, despite warnings from Egypt and others. Читать дальше...

Biden campaign has amassed $155M in cash on hand for 2024 campaign and raised $53M last month

President Joe Biden’s campaign has amassed $155 million in cash on hand for the 2024 election, far exceeding the in-hand total for his Republican opponent, Donald Trump. Trump’s February figures have not been released, but by the end of January his two major committees had just $36.6 million in cash on hand, and those committees in January collectively spent more than they took in. A major driver of those costs was millions of dollars in legal fees from Trump’s myriad court cases. Both Biden and Trump clinched their party nominations last week... Читать дальше...

'There's no agenda here': A look at the judge who is overseeing Trump's hush money trial

Judge Juan Merchan could become the first judge ever to oversee a former U.S. president’s criminal trial. He is presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money case in New York. If Trump goes on trial, the judge also will be in a hot seat. Merchan won’t talk about the case but says getting ready for the historic trial is “intense.” He says the court wants only to follow the law and for justice to be done. Appointed a family court judge in 2006, Merchan was assigned to felony trial court three years later. Читать дальше...

Wisconsin voters to decide on banning private money to help fund elections

Wisconsin voters are set to decide whether to make it unconstitutional to accept private grant money to help administer state elections, one of two Republican-backed ballot measures that Democrats say are meant to make it harder to conduct elections in the presidential battleground state. A related constitutional amendment on the state’s April 2 ballot would allow only election officials designated by law to administer elections. If a majority of voters approve, the amendments would be added to the state’s constitution. Читать дальше...
