The vote comes amid a legal battle with the state in which California Attorney... Читать дальше...

The move is expected to change the way many heart patients are treated. The new indication also could broaden coverage of the drug by Medicare, which is prohibited from paying for weight-loss medications. Читать дальше...
Santos made the announcement after attending President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address and mingling with former colleagues who had voted to kick him out of Congress.
President Joe Biden is all-in on calling out “shrinkflation.” The term applies to a seemingly covert way for companies to raise prices by ever so slightly reducing the size of their products. There’s suddenly fewer pretzels in the bag, less toothpaste in the tube and shorter candy bars. Biden complained in his State of the Union address that people get charged the same but smaller Snickers bars. The president’s focus on shrinkflation is part of a broader strategy to reframe how voters think about the economy before the November election. Читать дальше...

Super Tuesday put former President Donald Trump within reach of clinching his third consecutive Republican presidential nomination. But it may be Republican voters in Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi and Washington who put him over the top. Trump will need to win the lion’s share of the 161 delegates at stake in contests on Tuesday in order to become the presumptive nominee. President Joe Biden is also competing in presidential contests that day, but the earliest he can clinch his party's nomination is a week later on March 19.
The U.N. human rights office says in a report that the establishment and expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem amount to a war crime. The report covers the one-year period up to October 2023, when it says roughly 24,300 housing units in existing settlements in the West Bank were “advanced” — the highest number in a year since monitoring began in 2017. The rights office says Israel's transfer of its own population into territories that it occupies amounts to a war crime under international law.
The nation’s economy likely produced another month of healthy hiring in February, once again brushing aside the effects of high interest rates with unexpected ease. When the Labor Department issues the monthly jobs report Friday, economists predict it will show that employers added a solid 200,000 jobs in February. Though that would be down from the blockbuster gains in December (333,000) and January (353,000), it would still be plenty fast enough to outpace population growth and keep the unemployment rate near a half-century low.
