An aging structure, part reinforced concrete and part timber, over fifty years old, stands on a modest plot of land, spanning approximately 200 square meters, nestled within Bangkok’s Lat Phrao 1 Alley. Long neglected, this house bore witness to a tragic event—the untimely demise of the owner’s father, which prompted the family to vacate. Filled with remorse at the sight of the abandoned dwelling, the owner embarked on a mission to revive its spirit and breathe new life into its weathered frame.
Shwasam, denoting breath, is an endeavor to build a breathable structure that pulsates with life as it merges with the scenic surroundings of the site. The building is unassuming and camouflaged in the midtones that the tropical landscape affords. A passerby may casually stroll into the lush green surroundings of the farm, Greenara, and spot a structure that looks cozy and inviting.
Casa Verde is located in the walled enclosure of the City of San Francisco de Campeche, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. This rescued colonial house has a plot of 2906.26 SQ FT with construction on two floors of 2852.44 SQ FT. The name is taken from the original color of the façade, which the client wanted to keep. Built for the 1924 Olympic Games, the Stade Yves-du-Manoir is emblematic in French sports history. The location of many sporting events since its creation, notably with the French national rugby team and subsequently with Racing 92 in TOP 14, a century later, the stadium will host the Paris 2024 Olympic Games field hockey events. Nestled on the northern slope of Mount Penteli, amidst the serene pine-covered neighborhoods of Rea, lies the “Residence in Dionysos”. The project aims to respond to modern lifestyle while simultaneously evokes the sense of protection and familiarity of a primitive “cave refuge”.
On a long and narrow plot measuring 9 meters in width and 38 meters in length, a semi-detached house of three and a half stories stands as a slim, monolithic mass. Located directly in front of a road junction and with minimal external views to speak of, the design aims to provide avid gardening homeowners and their newlywed children with a climate-conscious and unique inward-looking home instead.
