ATLANTA (AP) — A prominent Georgia lawmaker is resigning as chairman of the Senate Education Committee over concerns about increased spending on charter schools. The Marietta Daily Journal reports Republican Sen. Lindsey Tippins' resignation came after legislators voted to increase spending on charter schools by nearly $18 million per year.
