South Korea says North Korea has launched multiple ballistic missiles toward the North’s eastern waters. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff says the launches happened on Sunday morning from the North’s eastern Sinpo area. It says South Korea has bolstered its surveillance posture and is closely exchanging information with the U.S. and Japan. Japan’s Defense Ministry also says North Korea has fired a suspected ballistic missile.

A U.S. appeals court is allowing construction to continue on President Donald Trump's $400 million ballroom. A three-judge appeals court panel issued its order late Friday, a day after a lower court judge continued to block above-ground construction of the ballroom on the site of the former White House East Wing. It's the latest development on the ongoing legal fight over a project that Trump says is a much-needed addition to the White House complex. The appeals court also scheduled a hearing for June 5 to review the case.

The U.S. Coast Guard says an airplane crew searching for a cargo vessel that went missing with six people on board near the U.S. territory of Saipan has spotted an overturned vessel but was unable to confirm whether it was the one that was lost. The Coast Guard says it was seen early Saturday about 100 nautical miles northeast of the Mariana’s last known position. Police in Trinidad and Tobago say they are investigating after 56 bodies — mainly of infants — were found dumped at one of the country’s cemeteries. Trinidad and Tobago has been faced with surging crime, including deadly gang violence, which prompted authorities to declare a state of emergency last month. The gruesome discovery was made on Saturday at the cemetery in the town of Cumuto on Trinidad. Police say 50 bodies are of infants while the remaining are of four men and two women. They did not say if any of the bodies had been identified.

Hundreds of animal rights protesters who tried to gain entry to a beagle breeding and research facility in Wisconsin have been turned back by police who fired tear gas and pepper spray into the crowd and arrested the group’s leader. It was the second attempt in as many months by protesters to take beagles from the Ridglan Farms facility in Blue Mounds, a small town about 25 miles southwest of the capital city of Madison.
