Welcome back to Barf Bag. You might think that being a political nepo baby would bestow the tiniest amount of humility, but former Trump press secretary and current Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) appears to have zero shame. Sanders, the daughter of former Gov. Mike Huckabee, chose to respond to an audit about her office spending more than $19,000 on a lectern with an incredibly stupid video. This objectively ugly podium—a custom "Falcon-style" lectern with an hourglass base and blue trim—has been causing Sanders headaches for months.
Between weathering bad reviews of "the greatest love story never told," weak ticket sales, and the near-constant online discourse about how "from the block" she actually is, it's been a tough few weeks for Jennifer Lopez. Now, the ex-girlfriend of Lopez' former co-star is weighing in with her own experience. In an episode of the No Chaser podcast, Melanie Iglesias claimed that when her ex-boyfriend, Ryan Guzman, starred opposite Lopez in the 2015 box office bomb, The Boy Next Door, the star's publicists instructed him to act as if he was... On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Moyle v. United States, a case about Idaho’s total abortion ban and a federal law called the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). EMTALA passed in 1986 and requires hospitals to provide stabilizing, emergency care to patients—including those experiencing pregnancy-related complications—regardless of individual state laws. In certain cases, abortion is necessary to save a pregnant person’s life, but Idaho’s ban allows abortion... Читать дальше...
Oppenheimer achieved countless feats, from breaking box office records to sweeping awards season. Most important of all, though, the film prompted many (well, at least me) to consider (or reconsider) the talents of erstwhile Hollywood heartthrob Josh Hartnett. Those of us who still have aging copies of J-14 posters of Hartnett under our childhood bed have long wondered why the hell this man was confined to C and D-list films after 2007. Surely, he should've enjoyed a more illustrious career; have you seen Pearl Harbor? Читать дальше...
Wednesday marked Caitlin Clark's first press conference since being drafted to play for the WNBA's Indiana Fever, but the biggest story to emerge from the event has centered on the male reporter who was extremely weird to her. Less than four minutes into the press conference, Indianapolis Star sports columnist Gregg Doyel was given the mic and flashed a heart shape (a la Taylor Swift) at college basketball’s highest scorer, like the heart shape Clark has flashed at her family members attending her games. What’s that chill in the air? The last grasp of winter hanging around for relevancy? Well, yes, that, but also, might it once again be Great Britain coldly losing out to the United States?! I don’t even stan the U.S. like that but I admit that I've gotten carried away with an inexplicable rush of patriotism now that the former Prince of England has distanced himself even further from the British monarchy’s clenches. USA! USA! Documents filed by Prince Harry’s company Travalyst Ltd earlier this week listed Harry as a “usually resident” of the U.
Last spring, one of the standout tracks from Taylor Swift's Midnights era was finally released to streaming. "Hits Different," a boppy but heartbreaking song about losing your mind after losing the love of your life, was originally (for some inconceivable reason almost certainly related to profit-making) a Target exclusive track. After it broke free of big box stores, it peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 last summer and I was very relieved to finally listen to it normally instead of through... Читать дальше...
