On Tuesday, the Daily Record broke the news that the one, the only, the Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience—reviled by local parents, remembered by the terminally online everywhere—is set to make its return. The "immersive event" organized by a group called "House of Illuminati" has lived in internet infamy since its debut in February, when it charged $44 for all the makings of the fictional chocolatier's world yet delivered little but an inflatable castle and forlorn Oompa Loompas in an eerie warehouse just outside the port city. The For You Page is a new bi-weekly column by Alise Morales that will explore, inspect, traverse, sift through, and dive into internet culture. In case you haven’t heard, the 1950s are back–at least in some corners of TikTok. Much has been made of the rise of “tradwives” in recent years, which has been categorized as everything from a right-wing backlash to modern feminism to an innocent expression of so-called “traditional” homemaking skills. But the trend is pedaled primarily by perfectly-coiffed... Читать дальше...
Wala sits with her mother, Hanan, and her newborn son, Eysar, inside Emirati Maternity Hospital on April 6. Eysar was born premature and weighed just 4.4 pounds. It's been nearly six months since Mike Pence dropped out of the Republican presidential primary, but he and former President Trump are reviving their nasty little feud, this time over abortion. "By nominating and standing by the confirmation of conservative justices... Читать дальше...
A belated happy anniversary is in order for the Peltz-Beckhams! Yes, it's been two whole years since Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham's nuptials—which some might remember took place just one week after hundreds of migrant workers protested “modern-day slavery” and various human rights violations outside of her billionaire father's $23 million Palm Beach office. But anyway! Now, it's already been well-documented that the eldest son of Posh and Becks is my favorite nepo baby. Truly, no other nepo baby has tried quite as hard to have a career. Читать дальше...
Like most of the internet, I've been horrified by JoJo Siwa's rebrand. I don't know why she's dancing like that; I don't know why she's dressing like Gene Simmons yet doesn't know who he is; I don't know why she thinks she's the first in her generation to make a dramatic switch or why she thinks Elvis is the first artist who was "not be afraid to be different." I still don't know the answers to these questions! But after listening to her Call Her Daddy interview, I am willing to give JoJo Siwa the benefit of the doubt. Читать дальше...
