Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, has expressed concern over Iran’s retaliatory air strikes against Israel and the escalating tensions in the region.
He added that the region and the world cannot afford another war. He strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on Israel in a statement released on Sunday, April 14th.
He has urged the parties involved to exercise restraint and avoid any actions that could lead to major military confrontations on multiple fronts in the Middle East.
According to Guterres’s statement, he has emphasized multiple times that neither the region nor the world can endure another war.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps has announced that in response to the “crimes of the Zionist regime,” it launched dozens of missiles and drones into Israeli airspace late last night.
Additionally, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated in response to Iran’s missile and drone attacks that they have been successfully thwarted.
Meanwhile, Iran’s missile and drone attacks have been met with reactions from leaders of various countries including the United States, Britain, Germany, and Canada.
