Johnny Caspers, David Bright form nucleus for Stanford’s O-line
During his previous five years as Stanford’s offensive line coach, Mike Bloomgren twice has faced a rebuilding job like the one ahead. He fashioned a top-flight unit both times.
In 2011, with three new starters, the O-line delivered the holes for the third-highest rushing total in school history and protected Andrew Luck as he completed more than 70 percent of his passes.
In 2014, a year after Bloomgren also became offensive coordinator, he had to build a line around left tackle Andrus Peat, and had the rest of the great recruiting class of 2012 primed and ready to go.
The only one left from that heralded group is right guard Johnny Caspers, a fifth-year senior.
