Security, drugs, and cyber threats: Tokayev met with heads of Interior Ministries of Central Asia and China

Tengrinews.kz — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the ministers of internal affairs and public security of the "Central Asia – China" format countries.
The President of Kazakhstan received the Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Xiaohong; the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ulan Niyazbekov; the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Ramazon Rahimzoda; the Minister of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, Muhammet Hydyrov; and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Aziz Tashpulatov, who arrived in Astana to participate in the second meeting of relevant agencies within the "Central Asia – China" format.During the meeting, the parties discussed regional security, countering transnational crime, illicit drug trafficking, cybercrime, extremism, and other contemporary challenges.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that strengthening cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Central Asian countries and China is essential for ensuring stability and security in the region.

"Transnational organized crime is becoming increasingly flexible and integrated. Cybercrime has evolved into a highly profitable global industry, causing billions of dollars in damage. The digital environment is being used more frequently by criminal groups to coordinate activities, launder proceeds, and conduct attacks that recognize no national borders. Central Asia, situated at the intersection of major transport and trade routes, remains a zone of increased attention for transnational criminal networks. In this regard, the issues of countering transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking are becoming particularly acute. I am convinced that only through joint efforts, information exchange, strengthening institutional cooperation, and the implementation of modern technologies can we effectively confront these threats," the President of Kazakhstan noted.

He also stated that Kazakhstan consistently advocates for deepening regional and international security cooperation. President Tokayev further emphasized the country's openness to dialogue, the exchange of best practices, and the joint development of solutions aimed at protecting citizens and ensuring the sustainable development of the respective states.
