“Mourning together” Emotional posts from residents of neighboring countries after the Caspian tragedy fill social networks

Tengrinews.kz — Social media continues to be flooded with tributes following the deaths of servicemen during exercises in the Caspian Sea. Users from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and other countries are expressing their condolences to the families of the deceased and sharing words of support.
Meanwhile, the search operation on the Caspian coast has concluded. Following the discovery of two more bodies, the death toll has reached 14.

Many messages of sympathy have come from users in Kyrgyzstan, where Kazakhstan is described as a brotherly nation and the incident is seen as a shared tragedy.

"Our brothers in Kazakhstan are facing a true tragedy. The country has lost its glorious sons—young and strong. Our most sincere condolences from Kyrgyzstan," one user wrote.

Other commenters shared their personal grief.

Social media users are also wishing strength and patience to the victims' loved ones, emphasizing the importance of honoring their memory.

"We share your grief. We express our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the fallen soldiers. May the Almighty grant them patience and strength. May they rest in peace. It is our duty to remember these heroes," "May they rest in peace. May the Almighty grant them a place in paradise," commenters wrote.

Users noted that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan share close, almost fraternal ties. In one post, an author wrote that she could never consider Kazakhstan a foreign country.

Notably, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Aktau also stepped forward to assist those involved in the search operation. They traveled to the Caspian coast, bringing water, food, and hot meals for soldiers, medics, and other specialists on site. A video of their efforts has surfaced on social media.

Tragedy on the Caspian Sea
On September 24, during naval exercises in the Mangistau Region, several servicemen were swept out into the Caspian Sea. They were performing training and combat missions on the Caspian coast when weather conditions suddenly deteriorated and winds intensified.
Initial reports stated that 19 servicemen were swept out to sea. The Mangistau Region Akimat later clarified the figure to 17 people.
It was previously reported that 12 people have died three people were rescued. One of the survivors is currently hospitalized.
A government commission has been created to investigate the tragedy. It is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev. The commission is to establish the causes of the tragedy and assist the families of the deceased.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the deaths of the servicemen, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported. Investigators are establishing all the circumstances of what happened.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the servicemen who died. On September 25, the Head of State declared a day of mourning.
The Ministry of Defense has announced the conclusion of the search operation in the Caspian Sea waters.
