A proposal for a new Maryland congressional map has officially died with the conclusion of the state's legislative session. Maryland's session ended late Monday, but mid-decade redistricting efforts are set to continue next week in Florida and Virginia. A new Maryland map with the goal of ousting the state’s lone Republican U.S. House member in a heavily blue state was supported by Democratic Gov. Wes Moore, who is often mentioned by pundits as a potential 2028 presidential candidate. While the map was approved in the Maryland House, the state Senate never voted on it due to concerns it could backfire and cost Democrats a seat.
