WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island teaching assistant has been fired after she was caught on video making what school officials called racist and violent remarks to a man at a casino.
The Providence Journal reports Kerry Thibault was fired Friday from her job at a Warwick elementary school. Schools Superintendent Philip Thornton called Thibault's behavior on the video "deeply disturbing."
The video was posted online and shows Thibault at Twin River Casino in Lincoln yelling obscenities at a man while waiting to place a sports wager. It shows her hitting the man on the arm, grabbing a piece of paper from him, showing her middle finger and telling him to "go back to Mexico."
Thibault declined to say what the argument was about.
