The Ron Rivera hiring was supposed to instill confidence in Washington Redskins fans, with a press conference meant to show the ship was righted.
But then something happened, and I’m going to go ahead and say it’s not exactly going to help Skins die-hards feel all that great about the direction the franchise is going in.
Owner Dan Snyder stepped to the mic to begin the press conference and, on Jan. 2, said, “First off, happy Thanksgiving, everybody.”
Seriously. That happened.
Was that a joke about being thankful for hiring Rivera? Did he forget what day it was? What the what?!

I’d also like to point out that Snyder talked about Rivera bringing a culture change, which is ironic given that the fired Bruce Allen said recently that the culture in Washington was “damn good”:
