AN INTERIOR designer has revealed five things that make your home look cheap.
Brielly shared her interior design no no’s via a video posted to her TikTok channel.
Brielly said that the first thing making your home look cheap is flat-pack Ikea furniture.
She advised using Facebook Marketplace to find second hand and vintage furniture instead.
The interior designer explained: “For the same budget you can get items that are way more premium, and bring interest to your space.
Brielly said that mass-produced art is another thing that is making your home look cheap.
She said: “Is it technically art? Yes.
Is it giving expensive? No.
Brielly also isn’t a fan of rugs that are too small.
She said they make rooms look non-cohesive and as though the design of the room hasn’t been thought out properly.
The interior designer is not a fan of furniture sets.
She said: “I will not be making further comment on this”.
Brielly said that she was guilty of using empty alcohol bottles as decoration when she was 18, but is now not a fan of the trend.
She said they look tacky, and you should get rid of them.
Brielly’s video, which was posted under the username @briellynturton, has likely struck a chord with many people, as it has racked up over 1 million views on the video-sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.
One person said: “Ikea has some very pretty and tasteful options.”
Another person said: “My home is almost entirely filled with old pieces.
“I totally agree that second hand often means higher quality for a crazy low price.”
A third said: “Who keeps empty alcohol bottles around the house?”
A fourth added: “This is super useful!”
