A VERY modest supermini that once belonged to an iconic James Bond actor has sold at an auction – for just £27,500.
The tiny set of wheels was the motor of choice for the 007 star between 2012 and 2017 to simply get around and park with ease in the millionaire’s playground of Monaco.
This dinky Smart microcar, built in 2012, once belonged to Sir Roger Moore, best known for his role as Bond in seven of the famous spy films – more than any other actor in the series.
Moore – who died in 2017 – was also a style symbol of his generation and an icon of ‘British cool’, with his credits also including the TV shows The Saint and The Persuaders.
In a recent auction held by Bonhams Cars, the star’s beloved Smart car sold for roughly £27,500 after a bidding war – a bargain for a motor once owned by such a well-known celebrity but a huge jump from the motor’s original guide price of £6,900.
According to the listing, Moore clocked up less than 2,000 miles in the mini motor.
The three-door car has a top speed of just 95mph and can reach 60mph in 10 seconds.
Despite being 12 years old, the interior comes in mint condition – with flawless leather and fabric seats, and a sophisticated dash.
Notably, the Fortwo City Car is just 9ft long and 5ft tall, which would have been a squeeze for the 6ft 1ins tall actor.
The two-seater was in stark contrast to the supercars owned by Sir Roger’s neighbours in Monte Carlo, and a far cry from the famous motors he drove as Bond – including an amphibious Lotus Esprit in the classic The Spy Who Love Me.
This comes as an incredibly rare Aston Martin loved by James Bond fans goes up for auction at an eye-watering six-figure sum.
And elsewhere, Wheeler Dealers star Mike Brewer has showed off the “most expensive car ever bought in the show’s history” – but he’s forced to tackle two major faults.
