SHE wanted a cute garden furniture set, but wasn’t willing to fork out the hundreds of pounds they’re going for online.
So instead, Rachel hunted on her local Facebook groups and Marketplace and eventually came up trumps – finding one for just £15.
Rachel was thrilled when she found a garden furniture set for just £15 on Facebook[/caption] It was a four-piece rattan set, that looked perfect on Rachel’s patio[/caption] The glass-topped table was in good condition but just needed a clean[/caption]She took to TikTok to share a video showing the set, which came with two single seats, a two-seater sofa and glass-topped table.
“Guys, I just picked up this four piece rattan garden set for £15!” she said in the clip.
“I have been searching for one for ages because I really wanted one but I wasn’t wanting to spend like £150 to £300, or whatever they seem to be priced at.
“So I’m really happy with it!”
Rachel said that the set just needs a bit of a clean, and there are a couple of damaged bits on the seats, but “nothing that can’t be fixed”.
“I got this on Marketplace, so it’s really good time to be looking for anything for your garden because a lot of people are getting rid of the older things and probably getting new things,” she added.
Rachel then turned the camera to show one of the damaged arms on the chair, as she said she was going to do her best to repair it.
But she was even pleased with the cushions that the set came with, as they were all “nice and plump and clean as well”.
“For £15 you can’t really say no, can you?” she concluded.
“Really chuffed with this!” Rachel added in the caption.
“Now is the time to be looking got second hand garden items as a lot of people will buy new for the summer!
“Just need to give it a good clean, trim the hedge and clean the patio and it’s all complete.”
“Someone’s trash, another one’s treasure!” one person commented on the video.
“You can buy the rattan on a roll on Shein,” another added.
Doing up your garden to enjoy on warm and sunny days needn't cost the earth.
Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to get a top deal on items for the garden…
You can bag big savings on plants, shrubs and flowers, as well as gardening tools and furniture.
Many retailers have flash sales across entire seasonal ranges – often these promotions tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout.
Sign up to mailing lists of your favourite brands and you’ll be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.
Use a price comparison site to search out the best value items.
And keep a close eye on the specialbuys at Aldi and middle of Lidl drops which drop a couple of times a week and usually mean great value seasonal items for your outdoor areas.
If you are not in a hurry to buy an item, try adding it to the shopping cart online and leaving it for a couple of days.
Sometimes big brands will try to tempt you into the sale by offering you a discount.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying.
It’s especially worth using sites such as Topcashback, Quidco and app Jamdoughnut when buying bigger ticket items such as garden furniture as you’ll get a nice kickback.
“Got a free set last week. Damaged but can hide it with a throw,” a third revealed.
“Love it!! What a bargain!!” someone else commented.
“Oh wow that’s fabulous!” another wrote.
“Marketplace is the best!” someone else gushed.
