Speaking to The U.S. Sun, he shared must-try hacks for maintaining healthy hair and preventing shedding.
Armand recommended closely examining haircare products before applying them to strands.
“When finding the right hair care product for you it is important to look for natural ingredients,” he said.
“Some of my favorites include almond oil which protects hair from damage and helps restrengthen weak/brittle hair.
“Rosehip is known to encourage hair growth, and another great one is Vitamin E which conditions the scalp and promotes hair growth.
“Yarrow root can help to tighten up pores on the scalp, and helps to prevent hair loss, while horsetail can help with hair growth and strengthen weak hair.
“Lastly, peppermint oil is awesome at helping slow down hair loss or hair thinning, and regrowing hair that has already been lost.”
Armand said massaging your scalp with a natural hair oil stimulates the scalp for improved hair growth and thickness.
“You can also use the hair oil with a plastic cap on while showering and let the steam from the shower help the oil penetrate through the hair shaft and scalp to act as a hot oil treatment,” he said.
“Meditating can also help with stress management should that be the root cause of hair loss, along with drinking warm tea before bed.
“You can practice these remedies a few times a week.
“I pride myself on educating my clients on their hair health and talk to them during our sessions about how to get stronger, thicker, healthier hair which has allowed them to gain a tremendous amount of confidence in their natural hair.
“They also swear by my hair oil Flourish By Alexander Armand, which was created with all of my favorite natural ingredients to help not only moisturize but also fight issues like hair loss, and encourage hair growth and healthy hair.
“Clients have told me they have experienced less hair shedding, their hair has grown, and their scalp feels healthier, providing that confidence.”
Armand said Flourish hair oil, which costs $39.99 on his website can also be used on the skin.
It contains sweet almond, coconut oil, castor, rosehip, vitamin E, horsetail, tea tree, red cedar, and peppermint oil.
The celebrity hairstylist advised being mindful when styling thinning tresses to avoid worsening the shedding.
“If you are experiencing hair loss, the best hairstyle would be a ‘wash and go’ where you’re not adding any tension from styling or heat tools,” he said.
“Use the correct shampoo and conditioner to address your hair loss needs, and let your hair air dry.”
He said protective styles such as braids, twists loose buns, or ponytails can also be great for avoiding tension and manipulation.

“Some common causes for hair loss include stress, alopecia, hereditary hair loss, chemical treatments, high tension hairstyles, diet, and certain medications,” Armand told The U.S. Sun.
“Androgenetic Alopecia which is also known as pattern baldness, is the most common cause of hair loss and is a genetic condition that causes hair thinning on the crown and top of the head in women, and thinning and receding hairlines in men.
“Telogen Effluvium is the technical term for a temporary form of hair loss that occurs when a large number of hair follicles enter the resting (telogen) phase due to stress, illness, surgery, childbirth, or major life changes.
“Hair typically grows back within a few months.
“Alopecia Areata is another form of alopecia that is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks hair follicles, causing hair loss in patches.
“The severity varies, some people may lose all hair while others may experience regrowth.
“When it relates to your diet, deficiencies in nutrients such as iron, vitamin D, biotin, zinc, and protein can contribute to hair loss.
“Traction alopecia can occur due to tight hairstyles like ponytails, braids, or buns that put stress on the hair follicles.
“Excessive heat styling or chemical treatments can also damage hair.
“Also, certain medications, like chemotherapy drugs, blood thinners, and some antidepressants, can cause hair loss as a side effect.”
Armand said alongside the consistent use of topical products, a healthy diet is necessary for visible results.
“Once you have a routine where you implement self-care, wellness should start to exude in all the other areas of your life causing you to stress less and improve the health of your hair and your overall health in general,” he said.
“The best diet would be a well-balanced diet to ensure that your body is getting all of the protein, vitamins, and nutrients to encourage a healthy scalp and hair growth.
“Some supplements that can help with treating hair loss include zinc, vitamin C, and biotin.”
