WHEN it comes top reality shows, ITV knows how to deliver the goods.
The broadcaster is now unleashing its new game show The Fortune Hotel, which promises to have viewers hooked.
ITV’s competitors forced to lie to each other to bag a £250K prize.
A total of 10 couples with compete – with only one being armed with a briefcase containing the whopper cash prize.
Eight suitcases will be empty, with one containing the dreaded early checkout card, leading to elimination.
Then begins the challenge in order to find which case the cash is in.
Meanwhile, the owners of the cash case – who are fully aware theirs is the prestigious lot – can lie and bluff in order to keep it hidden.
Viewers will be in the know throughout, witnessing their plans and strategies playing out on screen.
The show’s climax is the nerve-shredding case swap in the Lady Luck bar, where each pair must decide whether to keep or swap their case.
The new series is hosted by Stephen Mangan – the actor is best known for his roles in The Split, Green Wing and I’m Alan Partridge among many others.
Speaking about The Fortune Hotel which is set to rival BBC’s The Traitors, Stephen told virginradio.co.uk: “There’s intrigue, there’s drama.
“There’s a lot of comedy. It’s very funny.
“But there are alliances formed. People help each other or throw each other under the bus.
“The most joyous thing for me is the fact that they’re in pairs.
“So you get to see mother and daughter have a go at each other because they don’t think they’re doing it right, or best mates, their relationship either flourishing or floundering.
“It’s just a really intriguing, exciting, adventurous game show.”
Every day the contestants have the chance to try to uncover who has which case by taking part in challenges.
Viewers at home have exclusive access to the contestants’ plans and strategies.
The climax of each episode will be the case swap in the Lady Luck bar, where each pair must decide whether to keep or swap their case.
Their are ten pairs of 20 contestants taking part.
Some are married, some are best buds, and others know each other through business.
Here’s who are taking part:
Best friends Jae and Cherish from South London have teamed up.
Cherish told ITV: “The opportunity that presented itself seemed like a very interesting one at the time and it was throughout the whole process.
“I think it was also an opportunity for us to travel as best friends and compete for a life changing amount of money in the Caribbean.”
Married couple Claire and Daniel from Gloucestershire are hoping to win big at The Fortunate Hotel.
Claire said: “We always embrace adventure and wanted to do something together.
“The opportunity to do something outside of your comfort zone is always a good thing.”
Partners Gary and Lesley are hoping they will last the distance on the show.
Gary said: “Having been off work I was getting cabin fever and wanted to do something different.
“We’re getting older so want to fit in as many experiences as possible and this just happened to be something that interested us.”
Best friends Jen and Susan have teamed up to try and win the jackpot.
Jen said: “When I came across the casting advert, I remember thinking, this show resembled White Lotus meets Glass Onion meets The Traitors.
“I thought Susan and I would be amazing at this.”
Mother and daughter Abbie and Tracey were excited to head to an exotic location.
Abbie said: “When we got the opportunity for a free holiday I thought why not.”
Best friends Scott and Tommy are hoping they have what it takes to win the show.
Tommy said: “Two best friends bluffing our way to get 250K whilst being in the sun was a no brainer.”
Business partners Chloe and Louie want to put their skills to good use on The Fortunate Hotel.
Chloe said: “Louie asked me if I’d be up for it and I thought free holiday with my bestie and business partner, why not.
“We also loved the chance to get dressed up every night for filming.”
Married couple Samm and Aysha are seeking adventure on The Fortunae Hotel.
Samm said: “We’ve never travelled together.
“So it was almost like a honeymoon for us without the relaxation and chill.”
Mother and son Jo-Anne and Will think they are the ones to win the show.
Will said: “The idea of the prize money sounded very appealing.
“It’s also a once in a lifetime opportunity that you don’t get to do with your mum everyday.”
Last but not least we have best friends Adam and Michael.
Adam said: “It’s a once in a lifetime experience.
“And to share with your best friend, isn’t something that comes around very often.”
The Fortune Hotel opens its doors on ITV and ITVX on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 9pm.
It will then air every Monday to Thursday simultaneously.
There are eight, 60-minute episodes in total.
The show was filmed in the Caribbean in a luxury resort on Grenada.
Host Stephen opened up on shooting the reality show.
He told the Telegraph: “I’d be lying if I didn’t say a month in the Caribbean wasn’t part of the appeal.
“We hired the whole resort on Grenada – complete with a 100 m swimming pool – for the whole shoot.
“And I’ve never done so much filming on yachts and beaches.
“The sunsets were just incredible.”
