He falls with his weight on his leg and it gruesomely snaps in front of the shocked crowd.
But Shaughnessy’s training partner – who successfully defended the leg attack – celebrated his opponent’s injury.
It left fans raging as one said: “Taunting after that is pretty f***ed.”
Another added: “Poor guy.”
One fumed: “Terrible sportsmanship taunting the guy after it.”
Shaughnessy defended his gym-mate, who was making his MMA debut, and revealed he later apologised.
He said: Yeah I mean he checked the kick and caused the damage, but, it was his mma debut like I said, and for a superfight title.
“Lots of emotions in the build up, hard to keep it all in, and he apologized afterwards.”
Conor McGregor suffered a similar injury in his last fight – against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 – breaking both his tibia and fibula.
He had successful leg surgery and after three years out returns at UFC 303 on June 29 against Michael Chandler, 37.
