THE owner of Britain’s cheapest caf where regulars come back every day has a full English breakfast on the menu that costs only £5.
Pete Doherty, owner of The Coffee House Cafe says he tries his best to keep the prices down for his loyal customers in Withington, Manchester.

He said: “If you are a builder you should not have to pay £40 every week for breakfasts.
“I am trying to keep the costs low for customers. I have regulars who are mainly students, builders and pensioners.
“Some customers come in every day, a lot live around here.”
Three such customers are lorry drivers Rick Sunderland, Luis Shaw and Jordana King who stop off at the cafe a couple of times a week for a full fry up and claim the breakfasts are the cheapest and best value in the city.
Rick said: “They (the breakfasts) are cheap and they are really good – the best value around. They are really good quality and we come here every week.
Jordana said: “It’s a friendly place, dead welcoming and the breakfasts are cheap enough.”
The cafe is adorned with a mural of the Manchester United player Marcus Rashford on the wall outside.
It has Formica topped tables and chairs, fridges of cold drinks and a fuss free counter where customers quickly order.
A full English consisting of two bacon, fresh mushrooms, one sausage and a fried egg with buttered toast and a choice of beans or tomatoes, costs a mere £5.50.
Pensioner Peter Knight, 82, who lives in Fallowfield says he has been going to the cafe for over a decade on an almost daily basis.
Sitting at one of the formica tables, doing a crossword, it is clear he feels a home from home enjoyment in the cafe.
He said: “It’s excellent value, friendly staff and I have lots of different things, including the breakfasts. They are all tasty.
“I have been coming here for over ten years.”
With the cost of living and the price of eating out skyrocketing – such a low price for one of the nations most well loved meals is a great find.
One customer said the meal as piping hot, the fried egg had a lovely runny golden yolk, and the two slices of bacon were lean and crispy.
It’s an extra £1.45 for super hungry customers to upgrade to a ‘monster’ breakfast with additional hash browns, black pudding and extra sausage and toast.
BRITS love a full English breakfast, particularly after a booze up the night before to soak up all the alcohol left in your system.
One place where you can get a cheap one anywhere in the counter is a Wetherspoons.
For roughly £5.50, depending on which branch you visit, you get a fried egg, bacon, sausage, baked beans, two hash browns and slice of toast with butter.
At the Coffee House Cafe in Withington you can nab a lighter option of a full English for less than a fiver – at £4.55, the Manchester Evening News reported.
For that you get two slices of bacon, a sausage, a perfectly runny and golden over easy egg, two slices of beautifully buttery Hovis toast, some fried mushrooms and a choice of beans or tomatoes.
In Wrexham, Wales, you can score a full English at the 130-year-old Marubbi’s Café from £5.50.
Further south in London, prices are a little higher.
Half Moon Cafe in Hammersmith does a full English for £7.50 despite being in the middle of one of the most expensive locations in the country.
