A BARGAIN shopper has revealed how she took a chance on a necklace from Goodwill – and got a payday worth over 10 times what she paid.
Though it could’ve been a dud, she was glad to report that the jewelry was worth its weight in gold.

She posted a photo of herself wearing the gold chain layered with a necklace featuring a moon-shaped pendant.
“I bought the bottom necklace on ShopGoodwill for $70,” she said.
“It’s solid gold and worth about $800!”
The online find, she revealed, is an antique Victorian watch chain.
“The stone in the pendant is a diamond, and the metal was sold as unmarked and untested,” she said.
“When it arrived, it looked horrible; it was super dirty.
“I took it to the jeweler, and he confirmed that it’s a lower karat gold—probably 9k. It needed repair in a few places, and I wanted it shortened, so I left it there for repair. I can’t believe how beautiful it looks!”
She explained that she was initially unsure about the antique’s value, but she took a leap of faith after seeing it.
“That’s very pretty! How did you get such a good deal? I swear that site is rigged,” one commenter said.
“It’s unmarked! So there isn’t a stamp on it indicating it’s solid gold,” the Redditor replied.
“The description also stated that Goodwill had not tested the metal, but the stone tested as a diamond.”
Though she wasn’t sure if the necklace was worth the $70 price tag, she made the purchase anyway.
“I took a risk on it, knowing it could be a dud and just plated or whatever,” she said.

“I didn’t know for sure what it was until I took it to the jeweler; he confirmed it was solid. It’s just a lower karat!”

“Looks like it found you, looks good,” said one commenter.
“What a beautiful find! I love the clasp. And it looks really nice layered with your moon necklace,” said another.
