Bridgerton
DRAMA Available from Thursday
Strap yourself in for a highly charged, drama-drenched third season as attention turns to Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).
Having given up on winning the heart of Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), who was rather mean about her last season, Penelope has decided that it’s time to take control of her life and find herself a husband – one who won’t disrupt her secret double life as mysterious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown.
It turns out that Penelope’s not the best matchmaker when it comes to herself – re-enter Colin, who hopes to win back her friendship by coaching her in the ways to impress potential suitors.
But it isn’t long before old – and new – feelings begin to surface… Meanwhile, Penelope’s rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie) continues, and she has her work cut out keeping the Lady Whistledown secret under wraps.
The first four episodes air this week, and then we’ll have another—but much shorter—wait for the second batch to land on Thursday, June 13.
Thelma The Unicorn

Regular farm pony Thelma has a dream: she longs to become a world-conquering pop star.
One day, fate seems to have decided to give her a leg up when a truck carrying barrels of pink paint and glitter happens to come a cropper right next to her.
Suddenly transformed into a unicorn, it isn’t long before the world starts to take notice of this sparkly new singing star. But when established pop queen Niki Narwhal (Ally Dixon) gets jealous of the new kid on the block, it looks like Thelma’s secret – that she’s not really a unicorn – could be exposed.
The 8 Show

Looking for the next Squid Game? Then welcome to The 8 Show, a mysterious and unsettling new eight-part black comedy thriller from – where else – South Korea.
The side-splitting and blood-splattered show follows the strange experiences of eight people, known only by their number – including the cash-strapped 3 (Ryu Jun-yeol) and the brainy 7 (Park Jeong-min) – trapped in an eight-story building, who are taking part in a very strange game show.
The longer they stay in the building, the more money is added to the prize fund.
Mark Twain Prize Awards
COMEDY Available from Saturday
If you weren’t already aware, the Mark Twain Prize is a prestigious award given out every year in the US that celebrates the career and achievements of a deserving comedian.
This time, the award’s going to the one and only Kevin Hart, and, as is traditional, the ceremony will feature a host of other big-name comics roasting the winner in merciless fashion.
Dave Chappelle, Jimmy Fallon, Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Chris Rock, J.B. Smoove, and Jerry Seinfeld will join in the fun and give Kevin a good ribbing.
Expect some brilliant, near-the-knuckle humour.
Power
DOCUMENTARY Available from Friday
With police in the United States recently cracking down strongly on student protests over the war in Gaza, this hard-hitting documentary seems particularly timely.
It explores the often controversial and rarely told history of policing in the US, asking the question: “Who is more powerful: the people, or the police?”
Talking to experts and historians, the film also examines American policing’s inextricable and shocking link to racial issues and asks whether the force has more power and influence than it should, or if heavy-handed responses are a result of increasing levels of crime.
An eye-opening exploration of how western societies try to manage criminality and threats to social order.

This May marks 25 years since Manchester United completed a historic treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League titles.
The inside story of that remarkable season is told in this three-part documentary, which features new interviews with many of the members of the treble-winning squad — including David Beckham, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Peter Schmeichel – along, of course, with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Talking at length, they look back on the incredible highs, the excitement, the dressing-room conflicts and the struggles that accompanied the triumph, as well as the determination that drove them towards glory.

The Yellowstone meets sci-fi series returns this week for its long-awaited second series.
The show centres on gruff, ruthless Wyoming rancher Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin), whose family’s world is turned upside down by the arrival of a mysterious young woman, Autumn (Imogen Poots), and the discovery of a strange portal on his land.
As we return to the Abbott ranch, Royal must find a way to convince his wife, Cecilia (Lili Taylor), that they can bring the family back together.
But with the Tillersons still causing trouble, Autumn’s – or should that be Amy’s – attempt to kill Royal unresolved, and that portal still causing confusion, it looks like everyone’s in for a wild ride. An intriguing, genre-mashing confection.
Grey’s Anatomy
DRAMA Available from Thursday
Grey’s Anatomy obsessives have only had to wait a few weeks for season 20 to restart, following its break, taking us back to Seattle’s Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital for the run’s three remaining episodes.
As ever, emotions are running high, with the hospital staff juggling complicated personal struggles with saving patients’ lives.
As we rejoin the crew, Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Link’s relationship is proving to be a real roller coaster and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is still working out what she wants from Nick (Scott Speedman).
Also this week, the hit show’s spin-off series Station 19, which follows a team of Seattle firefighters, returns for the second part of season seven.
Grown-ish
COMEDY Available from Wednesday
The sixth and final season of this smart teen comedy-drama, broadcast last year in the US, shines the spotlight once again on Andre (Marcus Scribner).
Getting ready for his second year at college, the youngster is desperate to establish himself as an independent man, but he’s finding it hard to make important decisions about his studies and his relationship with Annika (Justine Skye).
Meanwhile, Zoey (Yara Shahidi) is about to receive an exciting but daunting offer that will undoubtedly change her life completely.
Uncle Samsi-
DRAMA Available from Wednesday
Song Kang-ho, who won rave reviews for his performance in the brilliant 2019 movie Parasite, stars in this epic drama series set in South Korea during the 1960s.
When Kim San (Byun Yo-han) returns home from studying economics in the United States, he brings with him a dream of turning South Korea into a forward-thinking, modern, industrial country.
Enter charismatic fixer Park Doo-chil (Song Kang-ho) – aka Uncle Samsik – who has the guile, cunning and ruthlessness required to help Kim San realise his ambition.
A compelling and intriguing glimpse of South Korean society long before its culture took the world by storm.
The Big Cigar
DRAMA series kicks off this week with a double bill, followed by new episodes weekly
In 1974, Huey P. Newton, co-founder of the Black Panther political party, was accused of shooting a teenage prostitute.
Claiming innocence but desperate to avoid capture by the FBI, Newton turned to an influential friend – hot-shot Hollywood producer Bert Schneider – for help.
Together they cooked up an elaborate and unlikely plan to smuggle Newton out of the country to Cuba, involving pretending to film a fake movie.
The jaw-dropping story of that plan is retold in this six-part thriller, starring Andre Holland as Newton and Alessandro Nivola as Schneider.

The Sketch Artist

It’s back to Montreal, Canada, to catch up with the dramatic investigations of gifted but troubled forensic sketch artist Eve Garance (Rachel Graton).
As we rejoin her, Eve and her colleagues are still reeling from the horrifying events of the end of season one, when a killer went on the rampage in Montreal. On top of that, Eve is processing the shocking news she received about her missing son, William, and department boss Maryse is recuperating after being attacked by an unknown assailant.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race All Stars

There’s big, big money at stake in the new, ninth season of Drag Race All Stars.
