AN iconic fast food chain with more than 2,000 branches in the UK is shaking up its rewards scheme.
Subway fans have just weeks to act or risk losing their loyalty points for good.
Subway customers have until May 14 to take advantage of the chain’s current rewards scheme before it changes.
After this, any points collected will expire and become unusable.
Fans are being urged to log onto the Subway app, check their current points balance, and redeem them as soon as possible.
After May 14, the Subway app and rewards card will no longer be valid, and loyal customers could face losing out.
Currently, Subway’s loyalty scheme allows customers to collect points by scanning their app or card at the till when making a purchase.
For every £1 spent, customers get 10 loyalty points, as long as it is registered on the app.
If the card is not registered customers only get five points for every £1 spent.
Subway has sent out an email to its customers informing them of the change, and some have been sharing the information on social media.
Commenting on a post in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, one person said: “Thanks for sharing this, I need to get my footlong sub.”
Another added: “Better go and use my points up.”
While a third commented: “I’ve been saving up for so long, soooo annoying.”
The Sun has reached out to Subway for comment.
It comes as the chain announced the return of its popular kids eat free deal over Easter.
From now until Sunday, April 14 customers can get one free kids’ meal, including a 4″ Sub, snack and a drink, with any purchase of a footlong sub, in participating restaurants.
The offer was first launched during October half term last year to help struggling families with the cost of living crisis.
The aim is to help families enjoy days out together without having to worry so much about the cost of feeding the whole family.
Kirstey Elston, marketing director at Subway, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing back our Kids Eat Free offer – the deal is all about supporting families and helping them save money, whilst they enjoy quality time out together during the school holidays!”
Meanwhile, Subway fans have been hitting out at what one disgruntled customer called an “absolute crime” as the popular sandwich chain axed one of its iconic sauces.
The decision to phase out its sweet chilli sauce has been a bitter pill to swallow for some fans, who have taken to social media to vent their disappointment.
One said on X: “Subway removing sweet chilli sauce has absolutely ruined my whole day.”
Another enquired to Subway: “Can I ask why you’ve stopped doing sweet chilli sauce?
“It’s my absolute favourite sauce, you’ve done it for years, no other sauce compares to it, I was really looking forward to having that on my salad bowl today, gutted. It makes no sense?”
However, Subway is standing by its decision and recommends fans of the sweet chilli sauce should try the new extra spicy chipotle southwest sauce, which was launched last May,
Other popular fast-food chains also offer loyalty schemes where you can pick up points when you’re peckish.
McDonald’s loyalty scheme is called the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme and was first launched in January 2000.
For every penny you spend, you’ll earn one point. Once you earn 1,500 you can start redeeming your points.
However, it made a big change to its scheme last year, meaning customers can now get more food for free.
The fast food giant introduced a new points milestone within its MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme.
This means that customers can get four items from its menu for free when they earn a certain amount of points.

Its rival Burger King also offers loyal customers the chance to collect and redeem points across its restaurants.
BK rewards allows customers to earn 10 points for every £1 spent on the app or in stores.
There is also the chance to upsize certain items and earn points faster during limited-time events.
Nando’s also offers customers the chance to bag some savings, by collecting chilli’s on the popular restaurant chain’s app.
Fans can get a chill every time they spend £7 or more when eating in, collecting or ordering a Nando’s delivery.
You can then bag a reward, every time you hit three, six and ten chillies.
