She shared her concerns in the popular group, Wedding Attire Approval.
In a Reddit post, she revealed her concerns that her stepmother’s gown was “a little too white,” especially since she’s the bride.
“I get the feeling she’s doing it on purpose to try and upstage everyone,” she added.
She asked for reassurance that she wasn’t “overreacting” about the situation.
She also included a photo of the floor-length dress, which was covered in multicolor 3D flowers from top to bottom.
The A-Line Champagne Long Dress with Appliques, can be bought online for $198.
Majority of Reddit users were on her side and deemed the choice inappropriate on her special day.
“Beautiful dress. Absolutely inappropriate for someone who is not the main character,” a reader wrote.
“Just a little too flashy. It’s a beautiful dress,” another added.
“I think if it could be feasibly worn as a wedding dress by the bride, it’s not appropriate for anyone else to wear. And I’d say this falls very firmly into that category,” a Reddit user said.
But not everyone felt that she was in the right.
“Why? Too ornate? Several women wore dresses like this to my own wedding, and I barely noticed, so this whole post baffles me,” a woman added.
“People are just insecure,” another Reddit user commented.
