ROMANTICS on a budget don’t have to break the bank this Valentine’s Day, thanks to one man’s money-saving hack.
The last-minute shopper went to Walmart to purchase flowers for his partner, creating a DIY present that saved him $170.
TikToker Caden McDonald (@cadenmcdonald54) spent $26 on flowers for his girlfriend, instead of $200.
“Got a Valentine’s Day hack for all my man on this app,” he said. “Everyone knows that for Valentine’s Day, our ladies like flowers.”
“And it’s literally like $200 to get flowers,” he added.
Instead, Caden has a trick. He purchased five $4 bouquets, spending a total of $20.
He also purchased a milk jug decoration in place of a vase, which cost him $6.
For the DIY part of the project, Caden removed the plastic wrap from the flowers.
Then he cut the stems so they would fit into the jug, and so the flowers can suck the water up, too.
“It’s really so easy,” he said.
He removed all the dead leaves from the flowers and filled the button of the jar with water.
Caden also made sure to add some plant food to the water, which helps the flowers last longer.
“I know it’s kind of a tedious process, but it will save you some money,” Caden said.
People will be happy when they find out that the bouquet was homemade.
“When she finds out you made it by yourself, it’s over,” he said. “You win.”
Followers in the comments section loved Caden’s suggestion.
“This is spot-on true. I don’t care about money, this took thoughtfulness and time, I would be amazed,” one person wrote.
“I need this done for me, I would literally melt,” a second said.
“That’s gorgeous. I would so much rather have this than expensive flowers. So thoughtful and beautiful!! this is amazing,” a third posted.
