MANY of us have spent hours dreaming about escaping to the country and imagined what it would be like to live the good life.
However, one farmer’s wife has shared what life down on the farm is really like – revealing that her husband regularly disappears in the night.

Better known as @katieinthecountry, she regularly shares snippets of daily life as a farmer with her days filled with mud, milking and herding cows.
However, the mum-of-three recently took a break from this and explained to her 4,000 followers how her life had changed since marrying a farmer.
The hilarious skit has got over 186,000 views with Katie sharing some rather eye-opening downsides, as she took part in the viral ‘we are…’ trend on Tiktok.
Her first complaint was her husband’s consistent lateness as he deals with new calves, sickly cows and broken down tractors.
“We’re farmers’ wives…if we get a message saying they are going to be 10 minutes late, we know they mean at least an hour,” she teased in the viral video.
Later on in the short clip, the content creator revealed that married life was often interrupted by emergencies in the middle of the night.
Tucked up in her bed, she joked: “We’re famers’ wives…of course, it’s totally normal to wake up in the middle of the night and find your husband gone.”
Even a humble shopping trip to Co-Op wasn’t easy for the busy mum, as she explained that she would often have stop at the vets before getting her groceries.
Despite her tongue-in-cheek complaints, the influencer also used the viral trend to hit back at misogynistic stereotypes about farming.
Sadly, farming is traditionally seen as a man’s job, with kids singing about nursery rhymes about old MacDonald and his various animals.
Playfully hitting back at this notion, Katie filmed herself mucking out the barns and showing just how much work she put into the family farm.
“We’re farmers’ wives…of course, we known how to make a bed,” Katie told fans, as she shovelled fresh hay for the dairy cows.
As the influencer rounded off the viral video, she hit back at the idea that farmers’ wives were simply ‘helping’ their husbands to manage the farm.
“We’re farmers’ wives, of course we make a valuable contribution to running our family farm,” she pointedly said, adding: ”..but society just tells us we are ‘grand’ women for ‘helping out’.”
Unsurprisingly, other women had experienced the same types of misogyny and took to the comments to share their experiences.

One viewer wrote: “The “helping out” bit always annoys me!”
Some even shared their frustrations with their life, with another adding: “You forgot to mention how you can only book a holiday when it’s not silage season [or] calving season.”
A third then listed their complaints, writing: “No holidays…parents evening/plays on your own…other farmers ringing Xmas day for a hand with something [and] feeding the five thousand during harvesting impromptu.”
We guess life isn’t so quite down on the farm.
