A WOMAN has revealed that her house was branded the ugliest in Ireland thanks to her mums design choices.
Keelin Moncrieff took to social media to show off the house – complete with bright pink exterior walls and orange and brown flooring.
She said: “My family home ended up on the Ugly Irish Houses Instagram page.”
“I just thought I’d bring it back cause it’s funny,” she added.
“For reference, it wasn’t always that ugly.
“It was probably better when we first moved in, to be honest.”
She then showed the house when they first moved in and it looked like any regular house with white exterior walls and wooden panels along the windows and a matching door.
However, the house was soon given a makeover so garish that even the Residents Association wrote a letter of complaint to the family.
She revealed that her parents blind bid on the house which needed loads of work done, but they decided they would do the work while living in it.
Things didn’t go quite to plan though .
Keelin explained: “They literally bought it for like way more than what it was worth, it needed loads of work on it.”
But when the recession hit her mum lost her job and her dad went through a big pay cut, so a lot of the work they planned was never completed.
Though they didn’t complete a lot of the work her mum did decided to paint the exteriors of the home bright pink, keeping the warm-toned wood panels as they were.
“I would also like to add my mum only painted it pink after my parents split up,” she said.
“And I don’t know if that was some sort of revenge to, you know, bring down the worth of the house.”
Keelin also showed the interiors of the house, which were just as bold.
Her dad decided to tile the floors himself – opting for an orange and brown theme.
He even made the staircase which she said ‘rattled’ every time you stepped on them.
To top it off, her mum decided to go for bright red and green for the walls and floors.
She used a bright green paint for the upstairs walls and went with a bold red carpet.
The clip posted to her TikTok account @kee_mon has since gone viral with over 485k views and 43k likes.
People were quick to take to the comments and share their thoughts on the house.
One person wrote: “It’s not Ken’s dream house it’s Barbie’s dream house.”
Another commented: “I low key love it.”
“This is hilarious,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Sorry, but it looks like a home that was on a home make over programme in the 70s.”
“It looks like someone murdered an elf inside the house,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “I live up the road and honestly the pink brought a bit of life to our boring estate – it was a nice way to p**s off the posh old snooties.”
“The residents association sent a letter of complaint to us,” replied Keelin.
