WITH the cost of living crisis continuing to grip the nation, people are looking for any way to cut costs and save money.
And online marketplaces like Vinted can be the perfect place to make some extra cash.
Savvy mum Gillian Robinson swore by the app over Christmas and saved hundreds of pounds buying presents for her son – getting his whole list from Vinted sellers.
The 34-year-old, from Gartcosh, near Glasgow first got into the app after hearing about it at a mums group.
“It’s a bit of an addiction”, she revealed.
Her biggest saving so far has been a two-piece waterproof rain set for son Noah, aged two.
Buying the Helly Hansen set brand new would have cost £150, but Gillian managed to get one in perfect condition for just a tenner.
And she doesn’t just buy on the app, the mum makes money by selling unwanted clothes and items too.
“As season’s change, I ask myself if I’ve worn something or if it’s still to my taste”, she said.
“If it’s not, I sell it. I’m ruthless.”
And her top tips for selling could help you save extra time and money.
Gillian urges Vinted users to customise their postage settings to ensure you are not driving out of your way to find a Yodel or Evri store.
She added: “People also like to haggle.
“So put your item on for higher than you actually want for it, then you’re more likely to get what you want for it.
“Photograph as much of it as you can. The little blemishes it might have, tags visible, and be realistic about it.
“Also read through people’s reviews before buying from them.”
Vinted is one of the most popular online marketplaces where shoppers can bag bargain clothes and accessories.
But that’s not all, there’s everything from homeware to toys and baby gear up for grabs.
On the app or website you can browse through items that other people want to sell – and they may be new or used, similar to eBay and Depop.
