A WOMAN has revealed how she bagged a £99 two-day cruise in January – and it came with one very surprising perk.
Jenni Fielding has been working in the cruise industry since 2015, so knows exactly how to bag a bargain cruise.
The cruise ship expert posts all about her cruise holidays, including her own tips and tricks, on her website, the Cruise Mummy.
In a recent article on her website, she revealed how she bagged a £99 two-day cruise, which included food, entertainment, gratuities, port fees, taxes, and access to the onboard waterpark.
Earlier this month, the MSC Euribia departed from Southampton for a three-week voyage around Europe.
In search of a cheap holiday, Jenni booked a one-way cruise from Southampton to Hamburg.
She wrote: “A one-way cruise from chilly Southampton to snowy Hamburg in early January is never going to be popular, and so this half-empty ship was super cheap, to try to fill at least some of the beds.”
Not only was the cruise cheap, but Jenni also stumbled across one other perk.
Jenni added: “It seems that when you take a cruise on a half-empty ship with a full crew, having five times as many crew members per guest makes a massive difference.”
During her two-day stint onboard the MSC Euribia, Jenni was surprised by the service she recieved.
From boarding the ship in record-breaking time to top-notch dining service, the service was certainly high-end.
On her two-day cruise, Jenni made the most of her freebies, including buffet meals, the high ropes course, evening entertainment and the ship’s outdoor waterpark, which had heated water and several water slides.
Jenni, who was on holiday with a friend, did pay for some additional extras – including a drinks package that cost £40 per day.
The pair also paid to access the onboard spa – although this only cost £20 thanks to a loyalty scheme.
When the friends arrived in Hamburg, they spent £55 on a taxi to the airport where they boarded a £30 slight to London.
Including the extra packages, taxi fare and flight back to the UK, the pair spent £236.50 each on their two-day holiday.
Sun Online Travel have found two-night voyages onboard the MSC Euribia for £89 per person, with departure dates in early 2024, including February 16, 2024, and March, 22, 2024.
This isn’t the first time a holidaymaker has nabbed a bargain weekend away onboard a cruise ship.
Last year, one man revealed he booked a luxury cruise for just £10 per day.
Robbie Watson, 29, manages to explore the world by finding cheap deals online.
Along with his partner, Robbie boarded the MSC Virtuosa at Southampton after he spotted a last-minute deal on My Kind of Cruise.
Robbie said: “It genuinely costs less than staying at home. The room was like a four-star Hilton hotel but it was cheaper than most youth hostels.”
Sun Online Travel recently boarded Icon of the Seas – the world’s biggest cruise.
Meanwhile, Austin Wells from San Diego paid £246,465 for a studio with a 12-year lease onboard the MV Narrative – a mega cruise ship.
