A SILICONE artist has revealed how she made her underboob tattoo hurt less while she was getting inked.
She has learned a little trick that makes the experience more enjoyable.
TikToker Kelly Warwick (@kellymichellewarwick) has an arrangement of tattoos.
When she got her underboob tattoo, also known as a sternum tattoo, the artist left a gap so it wasn’t directly under her breasts.
“I have quite a nice gap here,” Kelly said, lifting her shirt so people could see her tattoo.
“So the tattoo isn’t directly underneath as you can see,” Kelly continued. “It’s not as bad as people think.”
The area is known for hurting more because the skin around the sternum is more sensitive than the skin on other parts of the body, like the forearm, Cosmopolitan wrote.
To reduce the pain, people can use numbing cream.
There are several choices on Amazon, but Treatonic has some of the best reviews.
It costs $24.99 and has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars.
The cream lasts for up to six hours and “desensitizes the skin, ensuring a comfortable and relaxed tattooing experience,” the description says.
“It works fantastic. Kept my arm numb the entire time each session,” one reviewer said.
“I’m surprised with how long the numbness lasted and would highly recommend this to anyone who is afraid of the pain,” a second person wrote.
“I bought this to use before getting my first tattoo on the outside of my ankle (a very painful spot) and I did not feel a majority of the tattoo,” a third added.
Tattooing can be painful because needles are used to inject ink into the top layer of the skin, as noted by Medical News Today.
Once the procedure is finished, the area can be sore for one to two weeks, depending on how long it takes to heal.
Women who get underboob tattoos should not wear a bra while it’s healing.
Instead, wear a string bikini “that’s not too tight around your torso” for the first four days, according to Cosmopolitan.
