A HANDY makeup master demonstrated a miracle pour that fixed her broken powder.
The beauty fan has shared her expertise on resolidifying and compacting powdered makeup if it cracks.
Mary Orton (@mary.orton) took one for the team to prevent the panic of fellow makeup lovers.
In her video, she purposefully broke her powder to show how you can fix it.
“I am about to commit an atrocity,” she admitted.
Mary held up a perfectly new Nars powder highlighter. She put on a pair of protective goggles and grabbed a hammer.
As she slammed the powder down on the surface, she pounded the hammer on top of it.
The blonde-haired TikTok creator smashed with purpose.
“Ooh, it’s hard to look at ’cause it’s not just a highlighter that’s broken, you know,” she said. “It’s your heart. I’m so sorry.”
Mary explained that she knows how to return broken compact powder “to its former glory.”
All you need is some rubbing alcohol. She poured a tablespoon of the liquid into the powder container.
“Then I use a knife to create a sort of paste with the product, trying to spread it all evenly across the palette,” Mary said.
The goal is to smooth it out completely and leave it alone for 15 minutes after.
Once the powder sits for a sufficient amount of time, you need a paper towel and something with a flat top.
Since the powder is dry, Mary said you put the paper towel on it and then gently press down with the flat top.
You want to “flatten and pack it into the palette.” But it’s necessary you have that paper barrier.
“So, after leaving it to dry for an hour or two, the alcohol completely evaporates, and this thing is good as new,” Mary proclaimed.
Shocked viewers rushed to the comments to thank Mary.
“Insane,” an awed woman wrote, while another commented: “You are my favorite person on this app for this very reason.”
One skeptic noted: “It looks like you showed the new one at the end. There’s no way it would look that perfect after the alcohol method. I’ve done it many times.”
