AUSSIE soap Neighbours is being revived just four months after it was axed.
Streaming service Amazon Freevee has bought the entire 37-year back catalogue of 9,000 episodes and will screen new shows next year.
Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, both 54, had their careers boosted by the Australian soap[/caption]But the new series is unlikely to return as the daily programme it used to be.
A TV insider said: “Fans loved the fact that Neighbours was a soap which was served up on a constant, regular basis — they couldn’t get enough of it.
“And the fact that it was always aired each weekday during its 37-year run was one of the reasons it was special in the minds of devotees.
“So while they’ll rejoice at the news of the revival, they might yet be disappointed by what form it takes.”

The new series will see the return of old favourites such as Susan and Dr Karl Kennedy, Toadie and Paul Robinson.
In a social media clip teasing the return, Jackie Woodburne, 66, is seen in character as Susan telling them the news.
Neighbours helped launch the careers of Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, both 54.
They returned to Ramsay Street in the fictional Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough in July’s final episode, which aired on Channel 5.
But it appears that not everyone has been told about the show’s return.
Takaya Honda, 35, who played David Tanaka, said: “The cast is finding this out right now. Give us time to process. We don’t know anything.”

Amazon Freevee and producer Freemantle said: “We are in the early stages of planning the next chapter of the show, but it will still be a soap opera.
“We look forward to announcing more casting details in the coming weeks.”
