A FORMER Trader Joe’s employee shared which snacks to buy when you are hungry but short on time.
These snacks are healthy and will satisfy your hunger cravings.
Trader Joe’s is a great place to pick up healthy snacks[/caption]Dietician Leah Kern lists seven of her top healthy and filling snacks from Trader Joe’s.
Kern told Insider that she recommends getting Cliff bars or to-go smoothies for a quick snack.
Another easy yet nutritious snack for people on the go is crackers with cheese, salami, and apples. This combo is perfect for those that want something sweet and salty.
“From a gentle-nutrition perspective, this snack has carbohydrates (crackers), protein and fat (salami and cheese), and some fiber (apple). Since this snack includes all the macronutrients, it’s a great option to carry with you when hunger strikes between meals,” Insider reported.
A fruit leather and nut combo is a great way to optimize your energy.
Kern told Insider that she eats this snack mostly during summer hikes.
“The fat and protein from the nuts help to slow the absorption of the sugar from the fruit leather into the bloodstream, resulting in more sustained energy and fullness,” Insider reported.
For those with a nut allergy, the fruit leather by itself is also healthy offering the body a source of carbohydrates.
When a sweet tooth kicks in, Kern told Insider that she recommends getting rice cakes, cocoa spread, and a banana from Trader Joe’s.
“I love to put cocoa-almond spread on a rice cake and top it with some sliced bananas,” Insider reported.
From a healthy standpoint, the rice cakes act as a source of carbohydrates, healthy fat comes from the cocoa spread, and the banana slices are a source of fiber.
For an extra source of protein, customers could eat the sweet snack with a glass of milk.
Pairing chocolate with walnuts and a glass of milk can also be a nutritious snack.
“Chocolate chips are a source of simple carbohydrates (in the form of sugar) and walnuts offer protein and fat,” Insider reported.
Kern told Insider that the snack could also stabilize your blood sugar and keep you energized and satisfied for longer.
The Trader Joe’s Greek yogurt can double as a dip for chips or veggies.
“I like the variety of flavors and textures with the refreshing and crunchy veggies and the contrast between the cooling yogurt dip and the spicy chips,” Insider reported.

From a healthy standpoint, chips can be a source of carbohydrates, the veggies act as a source of fiber, and the dip can be a source of fat.
However, the snack is low in protein, so it may not keep you energized for long.
