A DEFLATED Gary Neville didn’t hold back in his assessment of Manchester United during their 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
The Red Devils legend tore into Ralf Rangnick’s flops, slamming the players as “embarrassing” despite the two teams sharing the points.
Neville was co-commentating the game at Old Trafford for Sky Sports, but didn’t hesitate to offer his personal opinion on the squad.
He fumed that United “need beating” to set an example as to what happens to a team with a poor work ethic.
Neville blasted: “Man United are the type of team for any football fan watching that you almost want to get beat.
“They need beating, they set a really poor example around work ethic and trying – and all the things that parents and teachers tell their children every single day.”

Neville was quick to notice how easy it was for Chelsea to cut through United, and aimed a finger at Marcus Rashford for his lack of effort.
He continued: “Look at the gaps and the space! It’s unbelievable. You don’t see any teams in the league give the space that United do.
“Look where he is [Rashford], he’s at the halfway line, he’s not even moved!
“These lot get paid a fortune and walk about on a football pitch. Embarrassing.”

A glum Neville then willed for incoming boss Erik ten Hag to be watching the game in order for him to get an idea of the task on his hands at Old Trafford.
He said: “You hope Erik ten Hag is watching this.”
If United’s performances in recent weeks hadn’t pushed fans to the brink of despair, Neville’s blunt assessment of his old team did.
Many took to social media in reaction to Neville’s rant, with one writing: “Man U have broke Gary Neville lol the same as me to be fair.”
Another miserable supporter added: “It’s shocking to watch. Everything Neville is saying is right. If anything he’s not being harsh enough.”

Unsurprisingly Roy Keane also made his feelings clear from the Sky studio, claiming the players’ “heads are gone”.
He said: “Their heads are gone now. There’s no intensity, all season they’ve given up loads of chances, we’ve seen it again tonight.
“They’re easy to play against, they don’t seem to run back with intensity – they’ve already lost 10 league games and the season’s not over yet, so there’s no surprise to what we’re seeing tonight.
“I think it just reflects where this group is. I think physically and mentally they’re just shot to pieces.”

Meanwhile fans inside the crowd spent much of the first half protesting against the Glazer family’s ownership of the club.
Chants of “Stand up if you hate the Glazers” and “We want the Glazers out” echoed around all four stands of Old Trafford.
Fans also held up “Glazers out” banners before kick off.
Marcos Alonso opened the scoring for the visitors before Cristiano Ronaldo almost immediately equalised with a fine goal.
Despite earning a point, United were again poor with Chelsea dominant – only their poor finishing stopped the Blues from earning a win.
