ED Sheeran will set the Brit Awards alight with a truly explosive stage show tonight.

I can reveal the British superstar is preparing to open the ceremony with one of the most dangerous Brits performances of all time — by setting fire to the inside of London’s O2 Arena.

Award winner Ed plans to open the ceremony with one of the most dangerous Brits performances of all time — by setting fire to the inside of London’s O2 Arena[/caption]

The act will involve so many blazes across the stage that the organisers have had to call in fire marshals to be posted around the venue, to prevent any bad mishaps when he is live on TV.

And they’ll have quite a job on their hands as it won’t just be Ed who they need to protect.

I’m told the singer has lined up special guests to join him, and there identities are being kept top secret.

On top of that, he has enlisted 30 dancers including aerial performers, a contortionist and men in lace dresses to bring the routine to life.

A source said: “Ed will make one of the most explosive openings in Brit Awards history, with the help of some special guests.

“He wanted to make sure he returned to Britain’s biggest stage with a bang following the pandemic and no expense has been spared.

“Set between two electricity pylons moulded into the shape of the iconic Brit statuette, the stage will be littered with fire burning from waste paper bins and there will be a laser spectacular.

“Fire marshals have been posted everywhere backstage.

“Loads of amazingly talented dancers have been putting in the hours to rehearse for it because all of the pyrotechnics mean that one wrong move could result in disaster.

“Ed will also pay homage to London with a projection showing the city’s skyline, but with a dystopian edge with barbed wire and discarded shopping trolleys used as props. It will be unforgettable.”

Ed, who has not performed at the Brits since 2018, will be hoping it isn’t the only time he takes to the stage tonight.

He is up for Artist of the Year, Mastercard Album of the Year, Song of the Year for Bad Habits, and Best Pop/R&B Act.

ROOM CLEARED

He faces big competition from another British superstar in all four of those categories though — Adele.

She will also perform in person, despite having initially planned to appear via a video link from Las Vegas before axing her residency there last month.

However, details of Adele’s stage appearance are being kept under wraps and she insisted that the entire room was cleared before she took to the stage to rehearse at the venue last night.

Other performers at the ceremony include Liam Gallagher, Dave, Anne-Marie and KSI, Sam Fender, Little Simz and Holly Humberstone.

I will be down there tonight to bring you all of the gossip from the biggest night in music.

I’m sure it’s going to be an explosive occasion.

Dua gets butterflies before big tour

DUA Lipa will kick off her mammoth Future Nostalgia tour in Miami tomorrow night.

But she managed to get one more night out before knuckling down for the shows, by going out for a meal in Miami.

She was dressed in an off-the-shoulder coat, multicoloured blouse and a butterfly necklace for the night off.

Dua is nominated for two Brit Awards – Best Pop/R&B Act and Song of the Year for her Elton John collaboration Cold Heart.

But last night it still wasn’t clear whether she would be making a quick dash across the Atlantic for the ceremony.

If she does fly into London for the bash, it will be a 8,850 mile round trip in a 24-hour period, so I can’t say I’d blame her if she decides to stay put.

Seriously?

JENNIFER Lopez has admitted she feels like Hollywood does not take her seriously – which is why she created her own production company for her movie projects.

She said: “It’s just 20, 25 years of people going, ‘Well, she’s not that great.’”

Maya takes the drain

I AM expecting Maya Jama to look the best she ever has when she hits the red carpet tonight.

The TV presenter gave herself a headstart by beginning preparations for it yesterday – with what she said was a “lymphatic drainage massage”.

What happened to simply hair, make-up and choosing the right outfit?

Somehow I don’t think I’ll be resorting to one of those drainage massages.

When Maya shared a video on Instagram it just looked like someone was rubbing her belly for the princely sum of £320.

She told her followers: “I am getting a lymphatic drainage massage because, last minute, I decided I want my belly out for Brits and I have been eating McDonald’s like a pig.”

Maya, who said the procedure would reduce bloating, will join Clara Amfo to present red carpet coverage on ITV2 from 7pm.

She’ll be showing up the nominees at this rate.

220 Kid ’Spoon-fed by fans

220 Kid reckons his night might not be too wild as he is still recovering from the evening he celebrated his nomination.

When he found out that Wellerman, his viral hit with Nathan Evans, had put him in the running for Song of the Year again, the producer revealed on social media that he was at a Wetherspoon’s in Ramsgate, Kent.

So fans ordered drinks to the pub online.

He explained in an exclusive chat: “The whole table was covered in drinks. I had to get a taxi up the hill to home and it was only about 400 metres.”

But he wants to make an impression tonight as his pink and blue fingernails were such a hit at last year’s bash.

220 Kid, whose new song Another Life is out next Friday, added: “I’ve always got to wear something a bit wild.”

Joe’s joy at return of DNCE

JOE Jonas’ band DNCE have reunited, raising questions about the future of The Jonas Brothers once again.

But he has insisted they can exist in tandem as he prepares to return to the group for the first time since 2018.

DNCE formed after the Jo Bros broke up the first time, and had hits including Cake By The Ocean.

They are gearing up for a comeback with a song called Dancing Feet, featuring KYGO.

But this time the group will only feature Joe, Jack Lawless and JinJoo Lee, after former band member Cole Whittle decided to concentrate on solo music.

Joe said: “In the past with the Jonas Brothers, I used to carry a lot of trauma when new projects would present themselves. You could only focus on one thing at a time.”

He said of the new song: “It’s really happy. It’s that feeling of not really giving a f*** and enjoying life to the fullest.

“I think what DNCE always did so well was bring joy to people, which is what I wanted to do with this new batch of music.

“Obviously it’s still very tricky times, but it reminds us all of being able to go out there and dance and enjoy life.”

Bastille strom it

BASTILLE are on track to score their third No1 album, leading an all-new midweek Top Five.

The group have so far sold two times the amount of copies of their record Give Me The Future, compared to The Divine Comedy’s Charmed Life, which is at No2.

Other new entries from Black Country, New Road; Korn and Mitski are at positions three, four and five respectively.
