JEREMY CLARKSON now has something in common with Paul Hollywood – other than being a fellow petrolhead.
The former Top Gear host followed the baker’s lead by having his catchphrase “I Did A Thing”, from hit series Clarkson’s Farm, officially trademarked.
It comes after Love Productions, maker of The Great British Bake Off, did likewise with “the Hollywood handshake”, which show judge Paul gives to contestants who do well.
They intend to slap the saying over merchandise and make sure nobody else profits from the saying.
Jeremy now wants to do the same, putting his slogan on items and selling them at his Cotswold farm, Curdle Hill.
A source said: “Jeremy is aware his catchphrase has taken off since he started his Amazon farm show, which has picked up a cult following.
“He sees it as a bit of an asset and feels, ‘why allow other people to financially benefit from it when he can?’.
“The wheels are now in motion so it won’t be long until his own official merch comes out, which his fans are bound to lap up.”
Jeremy applied for the trademark under his farm’s company name Curdle Hill Farm Ltd.
It will allow him to splash I Did A Thing over a range of products, including beer mugs, coffee cups, T-shirts and jumpers.
He hopes it will stop firms such as card and poster companies using it on their products without paying him.
Jeremy spouts the catchphrase regularly on social media as a way of announcing something he has done, from writing a book to flying with a water-powered jet-pack.
Clarkson’s Farm was one of the TV success stories of 2021, winning high praise from critics and fans.
A second series was confirmed by Jeremy in July last year in a Twitter post featuring the show’s breakout star, hired hand Kaleb Cooper.
It surely won’t be long until his young sidekick gets his own merch.

THE BBC has landed new comedy-drama Cheaters from the makers of The End Of The F***ing World Misfits.

It starts on February 8 on BBC1.

And forget about Milk Tray from the newsagents – he’s urging us to cook his chocs.
Raymond added: “I am now pleading with romantics young or old to make my chocolate truffles.
“My God, make them and your Valentine will love you all the more.”
DAVINA McCALL’s feud with Brian Dowling has been reignited – after he blasted her for not apologising over a spat from two years ago.
Brian first lashed out at the presenter in 2020, when ex-Big Brother host Davina claimed he was invited to take part in the show’s Best Ever Series special when fans questioned why he didn’t take part.
However Brian, who won the series in 2001 and was replaced as its host by Emma Willis in 2013 after two years, said he didn’t feel it was Davina’s place to comment and the pair got embroiled in a public row.
Brian said: “I’ve not got an apology for stuff that was said.
“She resigned and left the show on Channel 4, and she passed me her microphone.”
On why he was so upset at her comments, Brian added: “I was uncomfortable with Davina’s truth because they weren’t Davina’s truths to tell.
“They were my truths to tell, and how I felt regarding my firing from Channel 5.”

STRICTLY favourite Janette Manrara is one of 56 stars taking part in the new series of Celebrity Mastermind.
The pro dancer and It Takes Two host has chosen Disney’s renaissance era from 1989 to 1999, as her specialist subject.
That’s a slight contrast to comedian James Acaster, who has chosen the history of ice cream.
The series returns on February 5 and also features ex-England goalkeeper David James, Blue singer Antony Costa and comic Ellie Taylor in the famous chair.
Newsreader Clive Myrie will host, having fronted the non-celebrity version of Mastermind for the first time last year having taken over from John Humphry.
He said: “I can’t wait to reveal how some of the nation’s best-loved celebrities deal with the black chair.
“It’ll be fun for viewers, though maybe less for our celebs. But win or lose, they’ll be helping their favourite charities, so bring it on.”
The series will feature 14 episodes, with each celebrity battling it out for the Mastermind trophy.
SIR DEREK JACOBI is to reprise his role as the mighty Metatron in the new series of Amazon Prime’s Good Omens.

Writer Neil Gaiman said: “We are so thrilled we were able to get so many fabulous actors to return.”
Series two, which is being filmed in Scotland, is likely to air towards the end of 2022.
