BRITNEY Spears had been fighting for years to remove her father Jamie as her permanent conservator and was willing appoint Jodi Montgomery in his place.
However, after 13 years, Spears’ conservatorship had finally come to an end.
Jodi Montgomery is known as an experienced conservator with a degree in social welfare.
She runs her own practice with her husband Jack, where they specialize in conservatorships.
The couple’s company website states that they “offer expertise in managing businesses, working with limited partnerships, resolving contentious family issues, maximizing and protecting the value of intellectual property rights, managing real property assets, and developing and executing plans to optimize trust finances.”
Back in 2019, a judge gave Montgomery the powers Spears’ father would have until January 2020.
Prior to the end of her conservatorship, Jamie Spears co-managed his daughter’s estimated $60million estate with the Bessemer Trust Company, while Montgomery remained in charge of Spears’ person.

On November 12, 2021, Judge Brenda Penny ordered the pop-star’s conservatorship to be terminated without requiring any further mental evaluation – giving the hitmaker control of her life for the first time since 2008.
The judges decision came just hours after Montgomery filed a “termination plan,” which includes guidelines “for supportive decision-making to help [Britney] adjust and transition to life outside of the conservatorship,” according to TMZ.
Montgomery also stressed that these guidelines should only be given to the judge and Spears’ lawyers.
“From the history of this case, it is no secret that Ms. Spears has had a contentious relationship with her family, especially her father, Mr. Spears,” Montgomery said.
“Given the history of this case, it is clear that Ms. Spears does not want her medical or other privacy rights invaded by her father or any other party in this conservatorship case.”
After the decision was made, Montgomery’s attorney released a statement, on behalf of her client revealing that she is happy to continue working with the star in the future.
“Throughout the conservatorship, Ms. Montgomery has been a tireless advocate for Ms. Spears and it has always been her goal to give Ms. Spears a path towards termination of her conservatorship,” Montgomery’s attorney said, according to E! News. “That day is now here.”
Her attorney went on to add that Montgomery is “happy to continue working for Ms. Spears and assisting Ms. Spears in her freedom, independence, growth, wellness, and happiness outside of the conservatorship.”
On June 30, 2021, Montgomery slammed Britney’s dad Jamie for claiming that he was the one “responsible” for the singer’s “suffering.”
Just after Jamie had filed explosive court documents that maintained his innocence, the manager of the conservatorship, Montgomery, issues a lengthy statement that placed the blame back on Jamie.
In documents submitted to the court Spears’ father expressed his “concern” that Montgomery “does not reflect Ms. Spears’ wishes.”
He also made clear that he has not served as her personal conservator since September 2019 and wants the court to investigate.
However, Montgomery responded in a lengthy statement from her attorney saying that she has been “a tireless advocate” for Spears, 39, and insisting that Jamie is charged with approving any and all expenditures as the controller of her estate.
Montgomery’s statement also revealed that she will be presenting a care plan to the court for “a path to terminate” the conservatorship.
“Ms. Spears told the Court on June 23 that she opposed being under a conservatorship and revealed her ongoing disputes with Ms. Montgomery about her medical treatment and other personal care issues,” read the filing from Jamie’s attorney Vivian Lee Thoreen.
“These statements contradict the notion that Ms. Spears would seek to have Ms. Montgomery appointed as her permanent Conservator of the Person.”
