DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER defaulting on a month’s rent, our daughter is facing eviction.
She leases privately but most of it is paid with housing benefits. My husband was a guarantor but stepped down because the stress of finding the money was too much.
My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.

My daughter is 31. She says universal credit has blocked her payment. But when the same thing happened last year she told similar stories.
She has a history of lying to wriggle out of situations.
She doesn’t seem to see she and her children will be homeless if she ignores council requests to talk to them.
I’m 55 and my husband is 57. We’re getting to the point of disowning her, but our grandchildren deserve better.
DEIDRE SAYS: Taking on the role of guarantor is not something you do lightly, but worrying that there’s not enough money to go round puts huge stress on your relationship.
Keep talking to your daughter and urge her to speak to the council.
Her situation does sound bleak but Shelter can offer help and advice (shelter.org.uk, 0808 800 4444).
