KATIE Price has urged everyone to get the coronavirus vaccine despite “unique” son Harvey’s worrying reaction and hospital dash.
The 42-year-old star was left “in bits” when the teen was rushed to hospital after “shaking uncontrollably” and developing a fever following the jab on Friday [5 February].
However, he is now back at home after recovering – and Katie doesn’t want anybody to let 18-year-old Harvey’s experience put them off getting the life-saving vaccination.
She told The Sun: “I am in awe of the NHS – they are amazing, without them Harvey would not be here today.
“I don’t want anyone worrying about him as he’s fine now at home eating carrot cake. Despite Harvey’s reaction, he is one of a kind, the Covid jab is so important especially for those in high risk categories.
“I am so much happier in the knowledge Harvey is safer now he has had his.”
Katie’s rep added to The Sun: “Katie would like the medical authorities to consider those with complex and rare conditions should be vaccinated under strict medical supervision and monitored for 24hrs as their immune systems can react differently.
“Treatment can then be administered immediately. This would be subject to the resources being made available for this.”
Earlier today, Katie took to Instagram to reassure fans that the teen was back to his old self – even asking for “a chicken kiev and chips” at 4am this morning.
She shared on Instagram: “Harvey is all good. Thank you for all your kind messages and best wishes for Harvey he is home, safe and well.”
The mother-of-five went on to add that it was Harvey’s “complex medication” that he takes for his disabilities that caused a bad reaction to the jab.
“The reaction was a really, really high temperature, 39.9 degrees,” she said.
One in ten people will experience side effects after having a Covid jab - but it is safe
The most common Covid vaccine side effects are flu-like symptoms, tiredness and a headache.
A safety report published by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency found people also suffered with arm pain and fever.
They revealed most people had “mild and short lasting” side effects in line with “a normal immune response to vaccines – including a sore arm and fatigue”.
More than 10 million Brits have now had their first dose of Covid vaccination.
In total, there have been 22,820 reports of suspected side effects logged up to January 24.
According to the medicines watchdog 143 Brits died shortly after having their Covid jab. But the MHRA say vaccines are “safe” and didn’t play a role in the deaths.
“And obviously with Harvey, I have to keep a really keen eye and I couldn’t get his temperature down so I phoned Great Ormond Street and they told me to go to the nearest A&E that’s what we did.”
Speaking to Harvey, she continued: “They did all your bloods, did an X-ray, blood, ECG, everything.
“Everything was fine, said it was just a reaction from Covid but today, he’s absolutely on form, aren’t you?
“And the doctors and nurses were fantastic so I can’t wait to still have my Covid injection and I still recommend everyone else have it and Harvey is safe and well.”
The “brave” 18-year-old received the jab early on Friday because of his high risk status, as revealed exclusively by The Sun.
But he had a terrifying reaction and was rushed to hospital leaving his mum “worried to bits”.
He had X-rays in hospital where doctors are said to have confirmed his illness was down to a reaction to the vaccine.
A source close to Katie told The Sun yesterday: “Katie’s in bits.
“Harvey only had the jab yesterday [Friday] and she’s convinced it’s some sort of allergic reaction. She can’t think what else it could be.
“Katie’s very worried — she always fears the worst when it comes to Harvey’s health — but is trying to remain calm.
“But like any mum would be, she is beside herself with worry.”
The source added: “It’s dangerous as he hasn’t got cortisol in his body to fight like us.”

The most frequently reported reactions are injection-site tenderness and pain, headaches, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, fever, chills and nausea.
Harvey was born with a series of disabilities, including ADHD, autism, genetic condition Prader-Willi Syndrome and septo-optic dysplasia, which causes blindness.
He qualified for the vaccine as a vulnerable individual and has been immunised in the fourth stage of the government roll-out of the vaccine.
Katie said Harvey was the “youngest” person they saw getting the vaccine.
So far only people aged 70 years old and over have been offered the vaccine.
The younger exceptions are frontline health and social care workers and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.
Harvey, whose dad is former footballer Dwight Yorke, is Katie’s eldest child.
She also shares Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, with ex-husband Peter Andre and Jett and Bunny with Kieran Hayler.
