TO take part in Strictly Come Dancing, you do have to let your guard down and embrace the process.
But unfortunately, that’s quite difficult when you’ve got bad breath — just ask Jamie Laing.
The Made In Chelsea star says being close with partner Karen Hauer is “awful” because of it.
He added: “I have been through about 400 packs of chewing gum so far just to make sure that my breath doesn’t stink when I am so close to her. The good thing is that Karen and I clicked straight away at the beginning.
“That was great because, of course, it is embarrassing having to put your hands in all these places you shouldn’t really be touching unless it’s your partner. You are in such close proximity to each other, you have to be comfortable with each other, and I think we’re pretty comfortable with each other now. It was very intimidating to start with.
“But then on the second day she said, ‘Alright, get on your back and put your legs up in the air’. I did and she just looked at me and said, ‘Don’t fart’. I was like, ‘Alright. So we passed that boundary already!’”
Laing added: ‘I have been through about 400 packs of chewing gum so far’ [/caption]Jamie signed up last year to be on the BBC1 show but had to pull out because of injury — replaced by the eventual winner Kelvin Fletcher.
But he is taking no risks this year, with Karen making him do intense daily stretching sessions. Jamie said: “She basically stretches me every single morning and every single evening. That’s what really helps.
“She’s a professional athlete, Karen seriously has abs everywhere. I remember her walking up to me on the first day of training and I’m like, ‘OK, I wish I looked like that. I want to be a woman!’”
If ever there was a show with a wardrobe department able to transform a celebrity into a member of the opposite sex, it’s Strictly.

The pair put on Toy Story costumes for next Thursday’s episode of Sky 1 panel show There’s Something About Movies, under the watchful eye of host Alan Carr.
It follows Jennifer dressing as the Joker in last night’s episode.
CHRISTINE Quinn from Selling Sunset has confirmed the real estate reality show will return to Netflix for a fourth season.
She told This Morning: “We’ve been picked up for another series.” Christine will also be on MTV Cribs alongside Gemma Collins and Caitlyn Jenner.
JACK Whitehall has always struggled with his grumpy dad while filming their Netflix show Travels With My Father.
And on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show this Saturday, he reveals just how much he has to twist Michael’s arm to do things for the series. Jack says: “When we first started doing it he hated it – that’s kind of why the show works.
“It was very hard to get him to agree to do anything. First series I needed him to take his jacket off to go in a kayak and he said, ‘I will not be seen on camera in shirt sleeves’. We had to FaceTime my mum in England, she had to say, ‘It’s fine, you can take your jacket off’. In Series 4 I had him in drag.”
Fair play to him for doing that.
THIS Morning will become This Moo-ning as the ITV show visits a farm for a three-part series on food.
Mum of nine Amanda Owen, from Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm, will invite viewers into the home she shares with husband Clive to show how she serves up three courses on a budget.
The Yorkshire Shepherdess’ Family Feast, filmed at Ravenseat Farm, starts on Monday with one episode each week.
A source close to the ITV show said: “The Owens are an amazing family and we were delighted to get some of Amanda’s precious time so that viewers can see the hard work, passion and drive that fuels the family with this look at the food they eat to help them keep them going.
“We have no doubt viewers will love seeing more of them and the stunning North Yorkshire views in this series.”
EMMERDALE actress Amy Walsh couldn’t be more excited about her pregnant character Tracey Metcalfe giving birth. Appearing on Lorraine yesterday, she said: “It’s a chance to do ugly, crying-face acting which I kind of enjoy. It’s something that I’ve never done, so it will be a bit more of a challenge.”
