DONALD Trump’s White House has allegedly returned $3.4million to the 9/11 heroes fund after the cash was taken in an error.
The news was broken in a letter sent from Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin to Long Island Representative Pete King.
The funds were taken from the 9/11 heroes fund[/caption]Mnuchin said he was “very pleased to inform” King that the funds were wired on Thursday.
The exact amount taken by the Federal Government was $3,363,931.72.
“Those debts will now be reinstated and collected in the ordinary course by offsetting future federal payments to the NYC government,” Mnuchin wrote.
“The debts of the NYC government should not be borne by New York’s Bravest.”
The charity aims to help pay for health care for firefighters and medical personnel who got sick from serving at Ground Zero on 9/11.
The funds initially started disappearing in 2016 with no explanation to the fire department.
However, treasury officials said that the city was notified.
