THE Luminaries viewers are convinced episodes are being shown in wrong order as they’ve ‘no idea what the f*** is going on’.
The six-part series is a new adaptation of Eleanor Catton’s hit novel and is set in the 19th Century during New Zealand’s Gold Rush.
But the narrative jumps around within each episode, leading some viewers to get so confused they think they are being shown in the wrong order.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Are we sure they’re playing these episodes in the right order? I defy anyone who hasn’t read the book to explain what the flying f*** is going on… #TheLuminaries.”
Another tweeted: “Been watching The Luminaries, I’m up to Ep 5, still trying to figure WTF is going on. Can we go back to the old days where we start at the beginning & work our way through to the end.
“It gets a bit like the dropped the script on the floor & picked up the pages in the wrong order.”
A third added: “TheLuminaries – What the f*** is going on. Anyone know? Is it worth watching all the way through, or should I give up.”
Meanwhile a fourth tweeted: “‘I don’t understand’, says a character on #TheLuminaries. Mister, we the audience feel your pain.”
However, some viewers are struggling to keep up with the plot as they insist they can hardly hear the dialogue.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer raged: “#TheLuminaries is it me or is the sound crap?”
Another tweeted: “What was the matter with sound quality in #TheLuminaries? It sounded as though everybody had bags on their heads.
“Made it even harder to follow a plot that changed direction so often. Miss a second and whoops! Lost!”
