ED Sheeran was the first global music phenomenon to come out of his school – but he is hoping he won’t be the last.
I’ve learned he has ploughed £170,000 into Thomas Mills School over the past two years to help its students excel in the arts and IT.
The school, in Framlingham, Suffolk, where Ed met his future wife Cherry Seaborn, has benefitted from the Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation, which has helped to buy MacBooks, cameras and a photography darkroom.
A report from the charity’s trustees said: “Following grants to Thomas Mills School, this has enabled them to successfully upgrade their Art, IT and Music rooms for students to improve their educational performance.
“Soundproofing, a new photography studio and several high-end composition and recording software programs have been purchased and installed.”
The school Director of Music Richard Hanley said: “Pupils and staff at this school are fortunate to have a benefactor who knows and appreciates the value of the arts in education, how important they are and how they can indeed change lives.”
Ed’s foundation also gave £10,000 to a local primary school and £10,000 to Aldeburgh Hospital League of Friends for a sensory garden project involving outdoor musical instruments for the rehabilitation and recuperation of patients.
That’s on top of donations totalling £1million which I revealed last month that Ed made to local charities.
The Shape Of You singer is believed to be worth £200million after selling more than 150million records.
But after the release of his fourth album No.6 Collaborations Project last year, and the end of his 30-month Divide world tour, he is now taking a well-deserved break.
Good on him.
VANESSA Hudgens might have been in isolation for two months but she was still glowing when she wore this bikini.
The High School Musical star spent a day by the pool in the bright blue two-piece, sharing the snaps on Instagram and revealing she was in lockdown with her sister Stella.
Vanessa is keeping busy at home in Los Angeles, where she and trainer Isaac Calpito helped to raise more than £9,000 in 45 minutes by doing a workout.
The session was live-streamed so fans could join in, while making a donation to children’s charity No Kid Hungry.
Vanessa told fans: “Isaac and I obviously love working out but we love it even more when we’re raising money for No Kid Hungry.
“Thank you everyone who donated. Means so much.”
MEGAN Fox has fuelled rumours her marriage to Brian Austin Green is over after she was pictured with Machine Gun Kelly.
It is believed the actress, who is not wearing her wedding ring, hasn’t been isolating with Brian.
The mother of three filed for divorce from the actor in 2015 but they patched up their differences.
But it appears Megan struck up a friendship with Kelly, real name Colson Baker, on the set of movie Midnight In The Switchgrass, before lockdown halted the production in March.
On Saturday they were pictured picking up coffees in Los Angeles.
After the photos became public, Brian posted a cryptic message on Instagram alongside a picture of butterflies.
He wrote: “Eventually butterflies get bored sitting on a flower for too long.
“They start feeling smothered. It’s a great big world and they want to experience it.”
Megan and Brian were due to celebrate their ten-year anniversary next month.
At this rate I don’t think either will be sending a card.
MRS Doubtfire featured Aerosmith’s tune Dude (Looks Like A Lady) and Olly Murs managed to pull off this convincing transformation as well as Robin Williams in a jokey video he shared online.
He covered his face in wet meringue to impersonate the babysitter, in a scene from the film where she pretends it’s a face mask.
And it looked like he had borrowed his girlfriend Amelia Tank’s pink dressing gown for the video too.
That film is probably considered too problematic to be remade now.
But if this is anything to go by, I reckon Olly would be the perfect man for the job.
SPIKE Lee has dropped the first trailer for his new film, Da 5 Bloods.
The action-packed thriller, starring Chadwick Boseman, follows the lives of four African-American Vietnam veterans and will be released on Netflix on June 12.
THE 1975 worked with Greta Thunberg on their self-titled song last year but they are keeping it in the family when it comes to the collaborations on their new album.
Frontman Matty Healy has revealed he has recruited his dad – Auf Wiedersehen, Pet and Benidorm actor Tim Healy.
The group have taken a song Tim wrote when Matty was little for their album Notes On A Conditional Form, out this Friday, and even have him singing on it.
The song is called Don’t Worry, and Matty said: “My dad wrote it when I was a kid.
“There’s no recording of it or anything, so I rolled him out to the studio and he played it.
“It’s f***ing amazing, and it sounds like me, as well!
“That’s really f***ing something, man.
“No one else in the world could write a song and put it on a 1975 record and make it feel like a 1975 record.
“It shows where I got that from.”
Now this album is complete, he is hoping to get a job making music for gamers.
Matty said: “I’m definitely going to be working in some kind of video game capacity, whether it’s making my own game or doing music for games.”
Here’s hoping his mum Denise Welch and the rest of the Loose Women get involved next time.
YUNGBLUD says his upcoming second album is just like an episode of the hit Channel 4 drama Skins.
Speaking to Kerrang, he said the record is also “full of contradictions.”
Yungblud added: “The album is an uncensored version of my life.”
HARRY Styles’ new video for Watermelon Sugar has really got me yearning for a life outside of lockdown.
It sees him being kissed and fed melon by bikini-clad girls on a beach.
He tweeted the clip, filmed in January, today and wrote: “Don’t try this at home. Practise social distancing.”
To be fair, with or without a lockdown, there is no chance of that happening to me this summer.
ELLIE Goulding’s first album in five years was due to be released next month but fans might now have to wait even longer.
The record, believed to be called Brightest Blue, was given a June 5 release date in March, which was then put back by Ellie’s team to June 12.
But now it appears the album won’t be out until July 24, in the hope she will be able to properly promote it then as the lockdown eases.
However, to tide fans over until the release she is expected to drop a new song, called Power, from the album in the coming days.
I’m sure it will be worth the wait.
JUST when I thought Matt Goss couldn’t top the Bros documentary, he’s gone and knocked it out of the park.
The singer has claimed he was good pals with gangster Reggie Kray, saying: “He used to call me from prison, or as he would say, ‘Calling from Her Majesty’s’.
“He was one of my old mates. He used to read poetry and we used to chat. It was an incredible friendship we started to build.”
Recalling their first chat, he told FUBAR Radio: “I was at a sushi restaurant and I’ll never forget.
“It was a phone call and he was like, ‘Hello Matt’. He was like, ‘It’s Reggie. Reggie Kray’. I’m like, ‘Hello, how are you doing, Reggie?’ It was just one of those moments.”
