EMMERDALE fans are in shock after Wendy Posner finally realised her son Lee was a violent rapist.
The midwife – who is played by actress Susan Cookson in the ITV soap – overheard Lee’s victim Victoria Sugden break down over the rape after her brother-in-law Aaron Dingle accused of her always being a victim.
Viewers know how Wendy has been harassing Victoria and blaming her for Lee’s death, insistent that she was lying about the rape.
Victoria was left horrified in tonight’s episode when she walked in on Aaron fighting off a man he’d been to a sex party with.
The man was straddling Aaron after a fight broke out when Aaron caught him trying to steal from him.
She screamed at him to get off him and the man ran away but it left Victoria shaken.
And when she tried to talk to Aaron he insisted it was no big deal, accused her of always being a victim and told her to leave.
Rushing outside she found Liv and broke down, revealing the fight saw her flashback to the night she was brutally raped.
But as she opened up to Liv, neither of them realised that Wendy had been walking the dog and could hear Victoria’s heartbreaking words.
Victoria said: “It just sort of took me back to that night because I tried to fight Lee off and it didn’t work.
“And I put all that on Aaron and he went back on me and called me a victim.
“He’s right and it’s like it takes over and there’s nothing I can do. I don’t want to think about it but it’s there all the time. I’ve tried so hard but it won’t stop and I really need it to stop right now.”
As Liv then spotted Wendy and gave her a mouthful she hurried off.
Making her excuses Wendy said: “I’m sorry, it’s the dog, she walks me sometimes.”
But when she was out of sight of Victoria and Liv it became clear Victoria’s words had sunk in and she believed her.
Fans were overjoyed that Wendy seemed to finally have accepted that her son was a violent rapist.
One wrote: “Finally! After hearing what Victoria said will Wendy realize she’s telling the truth about Lee.”
A second said: “Wendy would have to be walking by just then, but I wonder if she’ll start to believe Victoria!?”
Another added: “Wonder if Wendy has realised now that Victoria was telling the truth all along? Looked like it at the end.”
