He was found slumped and unconscious at 2.26am on the high street and was rushed to hospital where he later died.
A 25-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remained under police custody after Phillip died.
The victim had been left for over an hour with a serious head injury near a Peri Peri Chicken shop on Slough high street, but nobody disturbed him as they thought he was asleep.
A post mortem examination carried out today confirmed the man aged 36 years had died as a result of a head injury.
A spokesman for Thames Valley police said: “The man was taken to hospital for treatment where he sadly died from his injuries on Boxing Day.
“The victim has now been identified as Phillip Deans, aged 36 years, from Slough.
“His family members would like their privacy respected at this extremely difficult time.”
