A FATHER abused his two-month-old baby so horrifically that she has been left with ‘unsurvivable injuries’, police said.
Martrell Thames, 23, was arrested on November 8 and charged with one count of child abuse by injury in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Tulsa County Police and paramedics were called to his apartment earlier that afternoon when the baby, who was not named, went into cardiac arrest.
The child’s mother reportedly told police she left her little girl at home with Thames while she went to the store, KJRH reported.
When she came back she saw paramedics trying to resuscitate the infant.
Thames reportedly told police he put his daughter down for a few minutes and later returned to find her unresponsive in her bed.
She was rushed to a local hospital where tests showed she suffered severe closed head injuries as well as an injury to the torso.
Doctors at the hospital say she will not survive the injuries, police said.
Thames’ bond has been set at $1million (£775,045) and he is currently in Tulsa County Jail.
He will appear in court for juvenile review hearing on November 27, according to the Tulsa County Jail records.
