EMMERDALE’S Samantha Giles has bid an emotional goodbye after filming her final scenes as Bernice Blackstock.
The 48-year-old actress took to Twitter today to tell fans of the show she had finished filming in the Dales after seven years on the show.
She wrote: “Yesterday was my last filming day on Emmerdale. I shall miss the laughs and have made some great friends.
“But sometimes it’s good to leave the party when you’re having a good time…..”
Samantha was immediately flooded with words of support and encouragement from her past and present co-stars.
Gaynor Faye, who left the show herself earlier this year, tweeted: “Shine on Sam, you’re amazing, can’t wait to catch up with you soon darling.”
Nicola Wheeler, who plays Nicola King, added: “You get today off then I’m coming to drag you back I shall miss my ‘pretendy’ sis but I’ll miss you more.”
Laura Norton, who plays Kerry Wyatt, tweeted: “Good times ahead, big things.”
While Michael Parr, who played Ross Barton, wrote: “You’re gonna smash it. X”.
Samantha announced the news she was leaving last month, tweeting: “After 7 fabulous years I am shortly to be hanging up Bernice’s aprons and leaving the dales to pursue other creative projects.
“I will miss all the friends I’ve made on the show, but I’m very excited to be moving on to pastures new.”
Fans were devastated by the shock announcement and flocked to beg her to stay.
One wrote: “Oh Sam you are one of my favourites sorry to see you go but good luck in your next venture xx”
A second said: “Can’t believe it… Bernice is a fantastic character. Will miss her. Good luck”
Another added: “No you cant leave love bernice but good luck to the future.”
The actress joined the show originally in 1998 as a barmaid at The Woolpack after leaving her first husband when she caught him in bed with another man.
She was later joined by her mother Diane, and she went on to marry Vicar Ashley Thomas before their bitter split.
