DAME Barbara Windsor was “tap dancing, singing and entertaining” guests at the wake of husband Scott Mitchell’s dad, despite battling dementia.
The EastEnders and Carry On legend, 81, was in high spirits and had guests applauding, pal Christopher Biggins said.
It comes as Barbara’s husband of 19 years Scott, 56, has recently had to bring in carers to help look after her as her condition worsens.
Actor and presenter Christopher, 70, said: “Scott told me a sweet story.
When his father died she went down there to support Scott and at the Shiva, which they have at the Jewish faith, she was tap dancing and singing and entertaining the women.
“It was just like she came to, for a couple of hours, to give her bit to her husband’s father. It was just wonderful. She got wonderful applause.”
And Chris, who has been pals with Barbara for 40 years, said the pair couldn’t stop laughing when they met for lunch earlier this week.
He added: “She is fantastic. I thought she looked wonderful, she was fighting fit.
“There’s odd moments, she asked me three times where I was living, which she knows so well, but she doesn’t.
“She asked me what I was doing about three times. But we laughed and laughed and Scott is amazing.”
Barbara was recently treated for a minor heart condition caused by side-effects from her Alzheimer’s medication.
Barbara was diagnosed with dementia in 2014 but she and hubby Scott only revealed the news last year.
Late Lunch With Biggins is at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from July 31 to August 25 daily at 2.40pm, Pleasance Ace Dome.
