DEAR DEIDRE: DETAILS of what my partner’s previous girlfriend suffered at the hands of her father have left him traumatised.
This guy raped her repeatedly and it all came out in a court case, throughout which my partner supported her.
His then-girlfriend has moved on but my partner, who is 43, has been mentally scarred by it all.
I am 42 and we have been together for six years. His sex drive has disappeared and he finds it hard to be physically loving. I love him and would really like him to overcome these problems.
DEIDRE SAYS: How sad that a natural way to show love has become tainted in his mind. Trauma like this is common among those close to abuse survivors.
Suggest he contact the National Association for People Abused in Childhood (napac.org.uk, 0808 801 0331). Make closeness feel safe for him through lots of kissing and cuddling.
